After saying goodbye, Martin and Ellena looked out of her mother's room. Ellena intends to take Martin to the front of the house. Even though it was a little hard to let her younger brother go home alone to the village, she still couldn't do much other than give permission.
"Do you really dare to go back to the village alone?" Ellena asked as she turned to Martin who was walking beside her.
"I am a boy, Sis. You dare to come back from the city to the village, how could I not." Martin responded to Ellena's concern so casually. "Besides, Jakarta-Bandung are very close, Sis." He added later.
"Yes, but I'm still worried about you." Ellena replied as she refocused her gaze ahead without stopping every footstep that continued to drag her into the living room.
"Don't worry about me like that, I'm not a kid anymore. I'll be fine there. After arriving in the village, I'll get back to you as soon as possible, Sis." Martin glanced briefly at Ellena, then focused back on the front.
"Have you said goodbye to Lucas?" asked Elena then.
Even though she hated Lucas right now, she didn't want her younger brother to hate her husband too. As much as possible she asked Martin to remain respectful to his brother-in-law. At the same time, Lucas' study door suddenly opened as they were just about to walk through.
"Where are you going, Martin?" They stopped when suddenly Lucas' voice echoed through the room.
Martin turned to the side and immediately got a nod from Ellena, as an order for Martin to say goodbye to Lucas first.
Martin who immediately understood Ellena's body language immediately approached Lucas who was still standing in front of the study door. The man's navy suit was seen attached to his body, indicating that Lucas was ready to go to work, even though the time was already 8:00 am.
"I'm going back to the village," said Martin which suddenly made Lucas gasp in surprise.
"Why so suddenly?" Lucas looked up probingly, then glanced at Ellena who was still standing a meter behind Martin.
Martin began to explain the reason for his sudden return to the village, just as he had told his mother and sister.
"I'll take care of my sister and mother. Please take good care of them while I'm not here," asked Martin, which suddenly made Lucas chuckle for a moment, of course because he was happy to see Martin who was so worried about his wife and mother in-laws.
"You take it easy. They'll be fine with me in this house." Lucas grabbed both of Martin's arms and looked at him with conviction.
"Just see what will I do, if you dare to hurt them!" He said, licking his lips. However, Lucas still responded casually.
If Martin knew that currently Ellena was hurt because of Lucas, I don't know what the young man would do. "You can do anything, if I dare do it." Lucas said as he pulled his hand back from the base of Martin's arm. Again he glanced at Ellena who was already throwing a scornful look at him.
"I take your word for it!" Martin replied not wanting to mince words.
"What are you going to use?" Lucas asked then.
"Maybe I'll take the bus or the train." Martin replied.
Lucas was silent for a moment as if he was thinking about something. "Can you drive?" He asked then.
"Yes, I can." Martin answered simply.
In order to help support his family, one year ago Martin had a side job as a shopkeeper at a grocery store not far from his house. He was then asked to learn to drive by the shop owner, before he was given the task of delivering goods.
Since then he started to be able to drive a car. However, after Ellena worked, he was no longer allowed to continue his work, especially since he had also advanced to class XII. Of course, Ellena hoped that Martin would be much more focused on his schooling.
"Jakarta-Bandung is not too far, you just use one of the cars in the garage." Lucas said giving advice.
"I don't agree!" said Ellena who suddenly made Lucas and Martin turn their heads towards her.
Lucas seemed to raise his eyebrows, before he responded. "Okay, I'll ask the driver to take you." Lucas immediately looked for another way as if on purpose because he didn't want to argue with Ellena.
Yes, even though he knew that Ellena was still angry with him. As much as possible he tried not to make his wife more angry just because of trivial things. It was enough for Ellena to stare at him cynically now.
"No need, I can go home alone." Martin refused, not wanting to bother Lucas.
"No! You still have to be accompanied by a driver." Lucas didn't want to lose.
He immediately contacted a private driver who only came when he was needed. Yes, it is true. For his personal business, he rarely uses the services of Rendy, a young driver who has devoted himself for three years.
Lucas really likes to drive himself if he wants to go to the office or other places that are not too far away. He uses Rendy's services only when he is traveling far. That's the reason why Rendy is never on standby at his house.
"Why are you guys the same!" Martin grumbled and managed to surprise Lucas.
"What do you mean?" Lucas, who seemed to be busy with his cellphone, immediately looked up and frowned. He was forced to give up on contacting Rendy.
"You and my sister are the same. Always treated me like a child. Look, I'm already this big. Do you need to worry about me like that?" Martin protested as he spread his arms wide as if to show his perfect body shape, even though he was still very young.
With such an appearance, is it still appropriate for them to treat him like a child? In fact, one's worries cannot be measured by age range. Big or small. Adults or children. If they are already worried about someone they care about, of course nothing will be able to prevent it, even the age of the person.
Considering Lucas was a person who didn't really like silly discussions, he just responded to Martin with a smile. After that, he returned his focus to the device in his hand and immediately contacted Rendy.
After waiting for almost a quarter of an hour, Rendy came to pick up Martin. Meanwhile, Lucas was also buying time to go to the office and faithfully waited until Martin actually left.
Without waiting to be commanded again, Lucas immediately approached Rendy who had just gotten out of the car. They seemed to be talking for a while. I don't know what they were talking about, Ellena and Martin just watched the two men from a distance.
"Don't forget, you'll let me know as soon as you get there." Ellena asked Martin.
"Sure, Sis. I promise I won't worry you and Mom." Martin replied, grinning happily.
"Martin!" Someone's call suddenly made them turn around.
"Ma'am?" Ellena and Martin looked startled when they found Briana who suddenly appeared in front of the house while walking in a wheelchair.
"Ma'am why are you here?" asked Ellena as she approached her mother.
"I also wants to see Martin before he gets home." Briana replied.
"Why didn't you call me?" Ellena grabbed the wheelchair and pushed it closer to Martin.
"I can do it myself, Elle." Briana replied.
"Martin, are you ready?" Lucas shouted, causing Martin to glance at him for a moment.
"Wait a moment!" Martin asked, then walked over to his mother.
After Martin said goodbye to his mother and brother for the second time, he immediately waved at them and walked over to Lucas.
"Thanks for the car loan and the driver." Martin said, pausing for a moment in front of Lucas.
"Be careful on the road, don't forget to let me know when you get there." Lucas replied with a big smile.
"Yes." replied Martin briefly, before he got into the car whose door had been opened by Rendy.
Just as Martin was about to get into the silver car, he suddenly stopped himself when Lucas called out to him.
"What else?" Martin asked dryly.
Instead of answering, Lucas reached into his trouser pocket and pulled out his wallet. He took several hundred thousand notes from the black wallet.
"Use it for your needs while in the village." lucas handed some of the bills to Martin. However, Martin was surprised to see how much money Lucas gave him.
"Thank you, but it's not necessary. I still have some money." Martin refused as he gently pushed Lucas' hand away.
However, as is well known that Lucas is not a man who likes rejection, regardless of who it is. He grabbed Martin's hand and gave him the money.
"Why do you like to force people so much?" said Martin suddenly. Sometimes himself was confused by Lucas's attitude who liked to push and never even heeded the rejection of others.
Lucas responded with a curt smile. "Take care of yourself there. If your business is done, come back to this house immediately. Your mother and sister will definitely miss you very much." He said changing the subject.
"But this money is too much for me." replied Martin who still could not fully accept the gift from his brother-in-law.
"It's okay. If there's any left, you can return it later." Lucas replied nonchalantly.
"Ah, are you actually sincere or not giving this money?" Martin's protests offset Lucas' joke.
"Depends on how you respond," Lucas said casually.
"Okay, I'll go first. Please take care of my mother and sister." He ordered once again.
"Hope you graduate with good marks. I've enrolled you in Harvard. Don't disappoint me." Lucas patted the back of Martin's arm lightly.
"Ah, you're so annoying!" Martin cursed, pouting his lips, just before he got into the car. Since it was getting late, he decided not to serve Lucas.
The silver car that Rendy was driving just sank at a low speed. The three of them looked at the car until it was far away from their sight.
