"You are here, secretly listening to our conversation," said Briana with a smile, even with Lucas who also replied with a smile.
"Sorry, Ma'am, I overheard your chatter." Lucas replied as he put his arms on the bar table.
Meanwhile, Ellena remained silent, not intending to respond to Lucas. In fact, she even showed her busyness in front of Lucas.
Ellena seemed to use a mixer to beat some of the cake ingredients that had been mixed into the container. thus creating less noise in the room.
"It's okay, Son. I'm just worried about Martin, so I plan to go after Martin to the village tomorrow," Briana explained.
"What's the matter with Martin, Ma'am?" Lucas seemed to raise his eyebrows in surprise.
"Martin's okay, it's just that my worried because he's alone there." Briana seemed to put on a pitiful expression.
"Ma'am just stay here, don't go back to the village. Besides, Martin will soon be going to college. So, you'd better stay here." Lucas asked, occasionally glancing at Ellena who was still busy with her activities.
"What are you talking about? How can Mother stay here forever?" Briana seemed to chuckle a little and didn't take Lucas seriously. "Would you like a drink?" She asked focusing her eyes on Lucas even more.
"No, Ma'am, thank you." Lucas answered quietly. "I'm serious, Ma'am. You don't need to follow Martin tomorrow, because next week we will be there to attend his farewell party." Lucas said, telling her what he had intended.
This suddenly made Ellena looked up and stopped her activities. However, it didn't last long. She then resumed her activities, without wanting to say anything.
In contrast to Briana who seemed so enthusiastic. She went straight to Lucas and stood in front of her son-in-law, right behind the mini bar table.
"Are you serious about what you said?" Briana tried to confirm it again, as if she still couldn't believe what her son-in-law had said.
"Of course I'm serious. Don't worry about Martin anymore, he's fine there. Now think about your health, because Martin would be mad if he saw you get sick again just from thinking too much." Lucas is very concerned about Briana's health. Even though he was only a son-in-law to Briana, he still acted like a real child.
Sometimes Ellena feels confused by Lucas's kind and caring attitude towards her mother and younger brother, while to herself it is very different.
"Okay." Brianna grinned happily.
Of course she is very happy to have a son-in-law who is very kind and caring to her and Martin. It was such a relief to see that her only daughter had a husband as good as Lucas. At least she didn't have to worry too much about Ellena, even though she had to live with Lucas. She hoped her guess about Lucas was right.
"Honey, what are you doing?" Lucas glanced at Ellena as soon as he finished the conversation with his mother-in-law.
Ellena gasped. Of course she didn't expect that Lucas would still dare to call her that, when she was still angry.
Ellena looked up and was silent for a while until her mother's voice brought her to her senses.
"Elle, didn't you hear your husband's question?" Briana asked for sure.
"Hmm?" Ellena flinched and turned to Briana, then to Lucas. "Cake." She said simply not wanting to say too much.
Lucas smiled and nodded his head slowly. "Your cake must be really delicious, it smells really good like this," Lucas said while inhaling the aroma that came from some of the cake ingredients that had been mixed well.
"You're so good at praising your wife!" Briana said, who had been watching Lucas all this time.
Lucas immediately turned and smiled at his mother-in-law. "But Ellena's cake is really delicious, Ma'am. Whatever food she cooks, it must be delicious." He said and suddenly made Ellena who heard it immediately pursed her lips, as if she was not happy with the compliment her husband gave.
"Your wife is really good at cooking, because since she was little, she has been living independently. So, there are lots of things she can do at a very young age," replied Briana who had walked back to Ellena, then tidied up some of the dirty furniture that was scattered around the house. on the table.
"That's what makes me proud of her, Ma'am." Lucas whispered, staring at Ellena's sad face who was still busy with her activities. However, she immediately looked up when Lucas said that.
Briana also looked and responded to her daughter-in-law's words with a smile, then brought the dirty furniture that had been collected into the dishwasher.
"Mom, just let me wash it later. You just sit there!" interrupted Ellena as her mother was about to wash the dirty dishes. She seemed to stop her activities for a moment.
"It's okay. Just let me do this light work. Don't spoil your mother too much!" refused Briana who objected because Ellena kept forbidding her to do housework.
"Don't, Ma'am. You'll be sick again." Ellena wore a worried expression. She really didn't want her mother to get sick just because she was too tired again.
"Elle's right, Ma'mm. You'd better rest," said Lucas, who was also worried.
"Oh my God, I won't get sick just from washing the dishes." Briana annoyed as she looked at Lucas and Ellena in turn. "Why are you overreacting, huh?"
"I just don't want you to get sick!" Ellena and Lucas shouted at the same time. They quickly looked at each other when they realized this, while Briana smiled at them.
"Mrs, let me do the work." Joana's sudden appearance caught their attention.
"That's right. Let Joana do the work. Ma'am, you just sit here, chat with me." Lucas said.
Briana took a deep breath. She reluctantly followed Lucas and Ellena's request to do nothing.
"Okay." Briana walked over to Lucas and sat behind the bar, facing each other with Lucas.
Meanwhile, Ellena resumed her activities. She seemed to put the cake batter that has been mixed evenly into the pan very carefully and slowly.
"I have a plan, how about we open a cake shop?" Lucas said looking at his mother-in-law. "So that Ellena has a new activity." He added later.
Hearing this, Ellena, who had just put a baking sheet filled with cookie dough into the oven, suddenly stared at Lucas.
"What do you think, Honey? Do you agree?" Lucas shifted his focus to Ellena who was still standing in front of the oven.
Ellena was silent. She was confused about what to answer. Why is Lucas' offer this time so tempting, when she doesn't want to talk to Luke, let alone have a long discussion about work.
"Sounds like a great idea!" Briana said in response. "Do you agree, Elle?" She asked Elena.
"Up to you!" Ellena replied slightly curtly, then walked to the sink and washed her slightly dirty hands.. Meanwhile, Lucas only responded with a smile.
