Xiao Min rushed to the scene, his heart sinking at the sight before him. What they had been avoiding for the past decade had finally come to light. He wondered how Lu Lijun would take

It.

Lu Lijun continued to cry, his sobs echoing around him, a grown man crying like a child.

"Lijun," Yuyan called his name softly, "let’s go home."

He finally raised his gaze to look at her, his eyes filled with tears. "Yuyan...I am one of them..."

Her heart ached to see him in such pain. "No, you are not."

"I am the reason why they could kill my brother. I...I am the reason..."

"No. You were just a child. They tricked you into doing it."

He shook his head, refusing her consolation. "You should punish me as well, just like you punished others."

"Lijun..."

"I deserve to be punished for being among those who killed your husband, Yuyan." His red eyes pleaded with her, begging for punishment to rid him of his guilt.

"Lijun..." she choked on her words and hugged him tightly, fearing he would disappear if she let go. "You did nothing wrong, Lijun. Maybe I can never fully understand what you are feeling right now, but trust me, it’s not your fault. Those people are the ones at fault, and I have already made them pay," she said, her own tears flowing freely. The fear of another loss gripped her heart. "All you need to do is to get over this and be with me. I have lost Lu Qiang, I can’t bear to lose you. You are the reason I am still alive. If you are not there, I will die as well. Please, let’s go back home. I need you. Please, Lijun. I don’t want to lose you..."

Seeing her crying, Lu Lijun didn’t say a word but finally hugged her back. The pain he felt was nothing compared to seeing her in pain. He heard her mumble between her sobs, "Don’t leave me...please...I don’t blame you...I never did..."

She had lost Lu Qiang in the same place, and now she feared this revelation might take Lu Lijun away from her.

After a while, she spoke again, looking at him. "Let’s go home, okay?"

Lu Lijun didn’t resist. She held his hand, standing up and urging him to stand with her. He finally stood and allowed her to guide him to the car, as if he had no will or thoughts of his own. She made him sit in the car and drove away with him.

The others finally felt relieved and got into their cars. San Zemin instructed them to return to base while he told Ye Bai, "I will go after them."

Ye Bai nodded. "Let me know if you need any help," and drove away.

San Zemin turned to Noah. "I’ll ask someone to take you back home."

"No, I am coming with you. I insist," Noah stated firmly.

San Zemin agreed, and along with Xiao Min, they followed Jiang Yuyan to her home where she took Lu Lijun.

Upon reaching home, Jiang Yuyan opened the door for Lu Lijun, who had sat unusually quiet the entire journey, tears never disappearing from his eyes.

She held his hand. "Let’s go inside."

Lu Lijun didn’t make it difficult for her and followed her inside. They went upstairs to their room. Not knowing where to start the conversation or how to console him, she said, "Freshen up first. You are tired."

Lu Lijun walked into the bathroom, and Jiang Yuyan stood outside, waiting anxiously. She hurried to get her cell phone and dialed a number as she stepped out of the room.

"W-Where are you?" she asked the moment the call was received, her hands trembling as she held the phone.

"Xiao Min told me what happened. I will be there in the next few hours," the person on the other side answered.

"Please hurry up," tears rolled down her cheeks, "He doesn’t look so good. I am scared..." "Don’t worry. Look after him until I get there."

She hummed, hung up the call, and hurried to the bathroom door. She could hear the water running from the shower and felt a moment of relief, deciding to wait for Lu Lijun. But time passed, and the water showed no sign of stopping.

"Lijun?" she knocked on the door, but there was no reply. She opened the door in a hurry, only to find him standing under the shower, motionless, with his head lowered, water washing away his tears, his clothes entirely soaked.

She should have expected this, but at this moment, her own mind was a mess, not knowing what exactly to do to make him feel better or to help him understand it was not his fault.

She rushed inside and turned off the shower. Standing in front of him, she looked at him, his eyes still closed. Despite the water, she could see he was still crying.

"Lijun," she said softly, gently taking his face in her hands. "You need to come out of here. You’ll get sick."

His eyes opened slowly, filled with anguish, but not a single word he could say.

"Let’s get you dried off first, okay?" She helped him out of the shower, getting rid of his wet clothes, grabbing a towel and wrapping it around him. She led him back into the bedroom, where she sat him down on the edge of the bed.

"Just sit here for a moment," she instructed, hurrying to find dry clothes for him. She returned and helped him change, her heart breaking with every silent tear he shed.

She dried his hair but not even once he showed any reaction. She was next to him, but it didn’t make any difference. All of a sudden she felt even more scared. It reminded of her days after Lu Qiang’s demise when Lu Lijun had gone under shock and stopped reacting to anything.

It scared her that once more he would go under that shock. Back then he was a child and she could pull him out of it, but this time, it seemed difficult. ’I need to get An Tian.’

Once she was done, she knelt in front of him, her voice nervous, "Lijun, say something. Talk to me."

His wet eye lashes trembled as he finally looked at her, but said nothing. Her heart sank at that empty look in his eyes. She would rather have him cry again and say whatever he wants but the way he was going into a silent mode like in the past, it was worrisome.

"I will get something for you to eat. Till then lie here and rest," she said, guiding him to sit while resting again the headboard after she arranged the pillows behind him. Covering him with a blanket till his west, she left. She took this chance to call An Tian. When she needed these people, no one was around. An Tian was catching the flight back to England when Lu Feng had already called him and stopped him from leaving.

When Jiang Yuyan called, An Tian instructed her with a few things. First was to put Lu Lijun to sleep so he can be calm.

She carried a meal with her to the room where she spotted Lu Lijun staring out of the window. No tears but his eyes were empty.

She carried the tray to him but as expected he ate nothing. "Just drink this glass of milk for my sake, alright? Just this much." She held the glass to his lips and he drank it, though just half of

It.

As per An Tian’s instructions, she had added a sleeping pill in the milk and expected him to drift to sleep. While staring out of the window, his eyes fell heavy and he finally fell asleep.
