Boris just had to know something that all of us missed. There was so much confidence in the way he fought, but also I had this feeling like he knew the trick this stick creature had hidden in its sleeves.
The chase went on for a few minutes which made the fight quite boring since there was no action. I started glancing from time to time at Ashal Kal Anur and Zor'xal to see their reaction. Although I wasn't sure, I felt like there should be some kind of intervention on their side, if it was to continue like this.
The alien just kept running away, while Boris was adamant about closing the distance, but also wasn't rushing, to waste energy.
I wasn't wrong, but it took half an hour more. The imperial official rose his hand and then spoke something, which was broadcasted all over the arena and through the holoprojections.
- Participant Boris is was confirmed a winner of the match, due to his opponent's cowardness.
As soon as this message reached the emperor's ears he smashed the arm support of his floating chair. The impact was so strong, that it broke, and the whole vehicle started slowly descending until it finally landed on the ground. He was yelling at his entourage throughout the whole process, and they were rushing to help him somehow.
Eventually, another chair was brought, but this took more time. Then they also had to help him change to the new vehicle.
Although Ashal Kal Anur didn't say anything and remained in his comfortable, although regular, throne, he also looked quite annoyed.
- This is good - said Adam. - Boris might just win the whole thing for us. Look at the official.
His comment made the other hunters switch their attention to the mentioned alien, which then caused them to whisper among themselves. I could see smiles popping everywhere on people's faces. They clearly got excited because of what he said.
- He first saluted to the official, to show his respect, and to win his favor, and then he pushed the fight to the state, which humiliated Zor'xal. He is a genius - said Nil.
- Yeah - said somebody from the crowd, which caused a chan of nodding and repeating words of agreement.
After the long break, the tournament finally restarted with another alien entering the arena. It was familiar to us over six meters tall, grey creature with the strange device on its back, helmet over the head, and plates of armor bolted straight to the body. The goliath, as I named it in my thoughts.
It squeezed through the entrance, and slowly started moving towards the middle of the battlefield.
I quickly glanced at Ashal Kal Anur and saw him rolling his eyes. I don't know if Boris also noticed that, or maybe he was planing that from the beginning, but he also turned to the official and repeated his salute from before. This brought a smile to the alien's face.
On top of that, it also pissed off already angry Zor'xal, whose green skin slightly changed color, and became a bit darker. It was obvious he was furious. Anybody could tell just by the way he was tightly holding the arm supports of his floating chair.
My observations got stopped by the sound of the gong, announcing the beginning of the fight.
Goliath immediately looked towards the emperor, who nodded firmly at the creature. It then leaped into the air and landed heavily straight on Boris, who rose his shield and despite all the force driving the giant body, withstood it without even bending his legs. Although it made him sink a bit deeper in the sand.
The alien had to jump off him and tried to attack, but his fist slammed into the standing bear, and despite all the power behind that attack, our friend didn't even budge. t was clearly defying the laws of physics. He was simply too light to take a punch like that, and not move, but he didn't.
He moved the shield, though, and slashed the arm of surprised goliath, who attempted to kick him, just to, again, get blocked. The alien had to get quite frustrated as he just started pounding, but Boris survived that avalanche of hits with ease, so in the end, only the creature got a little bit tired after the attack.
Goliath retreated a few steps, to probably try assault from a different angle, but Boris had no intentions of letting that thing go. He rushed after the alien, with shield still high for protection, but also with an ax at the ready, and he managed to reach the leg with the blade, spilling some more blood. It was quite deep, but because of the sheer size of the giant monster, it would still be considered shallow.
But that was only the beginning of his move. He then stepped between the lags, aiming at tendons. Goliat tried to stomp on him, but Boris could take it all on his shield with no problems, and after a bit of maneuvering landed a few nasty hits, making the alien kick him in frustration, and then leap into the air, to gain some distance.
The human blocked it and managed to land another hit, using the opening. He then immediately followed the creature.
It all looked kinda funny, but when I noticed all the blood on the sand, I changed my perspective. Boris's tactic was maybe slow, and not flashy at all, but it was working.
- He is going to tire that poor thing to the death - said Nil. - Is it wrong that I feel kinda bad about the alien?
- Yes it is- said Will.
A couple of people laughed.
- He is smart - said Gavriil. - He only goes for the legs. When I fought, I made a mistake and allowed my soldiers to cut the pipes connecting the helmet with the device on its back. Then that thing got way stronger.
I also noticed that during his fight. Meanwhile, Boris was continuing his pursuit, making the goliath run away from him further and further.. I quickly glanced at Ashal Kal Anur who was obviously annoyed at how the fight progressed.
