Zor'xal just couldn't take what he saw and started yelling something which we couldn't understand, neither could Boris, but Ashal Kal Anur and the goliath could. They both looked at the emperor. The creature's reaction was to immediately attack our friend and flood him with punches. Imperial official, on the other hand, had pity written all over his face.
The human bared through the hundreds of consecutive punches, that would probably take down a building, but he took them all like they were nothing, although he had to focus solely on defense. Meanwhile, the cuts on the alien legs were bleeding, slowly covering more of the arena in red.
Boris was patient and held up his shield, moving it constantly to protect himself, even when the goliath brided his fingers together, and started mauling him from above with all his might making the arena tremble.
One, two, three of those powerful slams in, and he did something that I had no idea he could. The standing bear flashed with gold, and something that I can only call a spirit emerged from it, hitting the alien, and making it stumble backward, as he completely didn't expect that, and lost his balance.
The human used this opportunity, rushed forward with the speed I would never expect from him, partially from the blessing I have him, and part of how strong he really was. He jumped landing on one of the legs and quickly moved higher. Alien tried to catch him, but Boris avoided, reaching the monster's neck, and then slashed with his ax, to drop straight to the ground.
He probably could continue his assault, but he didn't. He got what he wanted, a vein on the neck that looked like an artery. Meanwhile, the goliath hit the ground, and quickly picked himself up, trying to stop the bleeding with one hand, and with another immediately reaching to grab Boris, who just allowed that.
The alien tried to rip the shield out of his hands, but simply couldn't. It remained firmly in hands of the human, who didn't budge from his position. The next move was to grab him wholly with both hands, but this didn't change the fact that that the creature just couldn't do it. It was like Boris was glued to the ground, or like he was using some magnetic force.
For me, it was obviously some type of skill, but since I didn't have the guardian class, I didn't know which one and checking the database in my head in the middle of the fight, that could very soon end seemed like a bad idea.
Zor'xal picked himself up in his flying chair and started yelling on top of his lungs, obviously at his minion in the arena, who right then was doing everything he could, to slam, punch and kick Boris, who just patiently blocked all of the attacks.
Alien skin color changed because of all the blood, from gray to red, and the power started to vanish as more and more of the life force was leaving its body. Eventually, it just collapsed, panting heavily.
This caused the emperor to again slam the arm support of his vehicle, and make the whole thing go down. Meanwhile, Ashal Kal Anur stood up and started clapping. Boris immediately turned to face the official and bowed to him slightly, showing his respect.
Then the Ixan started speaking, which just made Zor'xal flip. He was punching the air out of frustration, causing his entourage to give him more space.
- Due to Ashal Kal Anur's wishes the rest of today's event is being canceled, and it will resume tomorrow. The Dispur empire is being called out to provide suitable opponents, or they will be officially recognized as the losers. This is due to the humiliating behavior of the emperor Zor'xal showcased in sending pathetic forces who only put shame on the mighty Ixan empire - informed the AI, as the blue head popped above the holoprojection of the arena.
Ashal Kal Anur left after finishing his speech. Zor'xal remained, yelling at his people in a language we couldn't understand.
This caused a big ruckus among us, as the hunters got all excited with what was just said to them. It seemed like what Katri Xel Avakadaisu said to us was not fake, despite her shady attitude.
- I'm genuinely impressed - said Adam. - Your friend just put us all into shame with what he did. To be honest, I didn't expect that from him.
- Boris is a very smart guy, although he often doesn't sound like one, and definitely doesn't look like one - I replied to his words.
He smiled at my words and wanted to say something, but the door to the armory opened and Boris showed up in full armor, without the shield and ax.
- Can somebody help me take this off?
Nil immediately rushed to help, and everybody else started clapping and cheering, which put a slight smile on Boris's face. He calmed the down by rising a hand.
- Congratulations - said Adam to him using the opportunity. - You did incredibly well. Your name will be imprinted on the cards of history because of what you did today.
- We will see - he replied, and vanished behind the door with Sanders.
- A heavy weight was just taken from my shoulders - said the fire mage, turning back to me. - I feared that we received a powerful blow with me failing, but he made it all disappear.
- You did great too. They just had a good answer to your skillset. Don't be hard on yourself.
- You don't achieve any progress with patting yourself on the back after every loss.
- But beating yourself up after it also doesn't lead to progress.
- Maybe you are right - he shrugged his shoulders. - I'm just glad it ended so well despite my failure.
I nodded. I knew very well how he felt because I had the same thoughts. Then I used the moment to finally check what the heck was that skill, which made Boris unmovable. I quickly found it. It was from one of the higher tiers of 'Guardian', 'The unmovable wall', which was practically gluing you to the place you were standing on.. Not to the surface, but rather to space itself.
