When Boris finally got out of the armory, loud cheering greeted him. People were chanting his name as they did with Adam.
I was among the first to greet him. Mainly because I wanted to know what he saw.
- Spill the beans - I said to him.
He just smiled, and then started calming the crowd down.
- It's enough guys. It's enough. Seriously, there is no need... But thank you.
When they calmed down, he then finally answered my question.
- Well... It was quite a process, and it all started with that strange alien, Avakadaisu. I was trying to solve what the hell was going on, but I couldn't. It led me to ask myself a question if it was true, could we allow ourselves to pass on such a chance? The answer was no, so I started looking at Ashal Kal Anur during the fights, and I noticed that when there was not much action, he actually quite fast was getting bored. It was quite subtle, so it took me some time to notice.
- Yeah... But what about the alien? The stick-man.
He smiled at me.
- Patience. Let me tell you the whole story. So... I still wasn't sure about the whole thing, but I started asking myself how we could at least attempt to take advantage of it, and have the official on our side, without doing any risky moves, or anything like that. I wanted something simple, so I want just with the usual greetings the gladiators did in ancient Rome, or at least my variation of it - he smiled again. - Then Adam's fight with the 'Stick-man' started. I noticed that it was getting faster with more heat around it. It came out all wobbly, but as soon as the first firebolt got to shoot at it, it got faster.
- We thought that too - said Adam. - But then it showed us that it wasn't the case.
- No. - Boris disagreed. - It actually was the case. You just miscalculated everything. With all the heat you generated, there was no way it used all the energy in just a couple of minutes. It was just baiting me because maybe it realized that I noticed, or was it a trap for me to do a reckless move, but since I wasn't falling for it, the alien decided to just stop, and attack, but I was on my toes the whole fight. When I blocked that attack, the 'Stick-man' realized it cant damage me, and I will slowly drain it from the energy, and kill, so ti started keeping the distance. I am not sure why it didn't give up. Maybe because Zor'xal wouldn't allow that? Fortunately for me, my show of respect to Ashal Kal Anur worked, and he just stopped the fight.
- All the pieces connected and it worked out - said Adam, while nodding. - Great job. You really are a genius. Even your fight with that grey thing was incredible.
- No, it wasn't - he smiled. - I just noticed that if you stop the flow of the stuff from the device on its back, it goes nuts, so I avoided that, and focused on defense, trying to aim at vital spots, and slowly bring it down. Fortunately, I could block its attacks, and it all somehow worked out.
As he finished speaking to Adam, he looked at me.
- By the way, thank you for the blessing. I have to say, that I might have to change my religion mister messiah - he added.
I rolled my eyes.
- Fuck you.
He laughed, as Adam and a few other hunters unfamiliar with the 'Followers of Divine Tree' were quite puzzled by his words, and especially by my response.
- Now I'm gonna get some food if you don't mind - he said and left us.
Adam immediately turned towards me to ask:
- Some kind of inside joke?
- Yeah. You could say that...
- Peter is actually a cult leader, and they think he is some kind of messiah - explained Nil, with a nasty grin on his face as he followed Boris.
- It's not a cult! And I'm not the leader!
Adam smiled after hearing that.
- Another surprise. Never expected you to be a religious person.
- I'm not a cult leader, and shut up! - I flipped, as the whole thing was beyond annoying for me and just left.
This caused Adam to laugh.
I found myself a good, relatively quiet spot, and just watched from there as Boris, while eating, was going again through the whole story because other hunters were also curious how he managed to achieve what he did. There was quite a lot of explanation involved, as some guys and gals were curious about the skills he used.
I also noticed Gavriil, sitting in the corner by himself, and observing quietly like me. He was still a gigantic question mark for me. On one side he was a cold-blooded killer, a true villain of the story, but he also had a different side to himself.
He cared about Earth, and also seemed to, in a weird way, care about some of the hunters among us. There was definitely something to him. Some kind of fucked up story, as it usually was the case.
He noticed me starring at him and showed me a middle finger, but that didn't discourage me at all.
The rest of the day was quite boring, filled with celebrations and drinking since everybody just had to make a toast to Boris for what he managed to accomplish. I had this weird feeling that some of the people thought it's over now when it clearly still wasn't.
We were just waiting for Zor'xal's move, and we could be damn sure that would be something spectacular, ash a lot was on the line, and the alien emperor seemed quite pissed at us, so I just couldn't help but worry what was in the storage for us tomorrow.
Observing Gavriil told me, that he had to have similar thoughts, as he was completely not in a mood to celebrate anything, and even said to somebody who brought him a drink, that he is going to celebrate when everything will be over, not sooner.
