Igmar was standing with a blank look. He stood near the wall as his face was drained of color, gripped by the sudden terror. He thought there was still hope even though two massive black dragons appeared. The Gondar Alliance sent twenty God Ranks. That should be enough to handle the two black dragons.
Then he watched how The Emperor turned into a dragon. Not just any dragon, but a six-headed dragon, and his size was doubled of the two black dragons. The moment he saw the twenty God Ranks turned around, he knew he was done for. Not just him, but also the Kingdom of Sand, and also his dream to rule the world.
Then he heard one of the God Ranks from the Gondar Alliance screamed at him. That was when he found twenty individuals, standing in front of the entrance to the city. He could not tell how strong they were. He did not sense them until he got a little bit of clarity from the scream.
Igmar used his Detection in an attempt to find out what rank these people were, daring to block the twenty God Ranks. That was right, he guessed that the group of twenty was trying to block the twenty God Ranks from retreating into the city. The city was a place protected by the System, after all.
[???]
Igmar received three question marks when he used Detection on one of them. He felt like his heart dropped there, but he kept using it again, hoping that only one of them was God Ranks. The result was the same, three question marks.
In his desperation, he used Detection on all of them, and he kept getting the same result. His heart dropped and realized this might be the end for him. He knew what the question mark meant. It meant they were all God Rank. That was the reason why his Detection did not work.
‘NO! They can’t kill me if I hide inside the city!’
Igmar tried to make his run, but a knight in black armor dropped right in front of him. The Valiant Soldier, Ruben, stopped Igmar from entering the city. As a soldier of the Hurakan Legion, he did not like what he was doing right now. He was trained to kill Calamity and Void Creatures, not beating a low-ranked Demi-God.
“I guess I have to accept my new reality. I am a spirit, and I served a different Master,” Ruben muttered as his palm hit Igmar, sending the Demi-God Rank flying.
Igmar felt his tightened up, having a hard time to breath at the same time. His vision was blurred, and head was dizzy. He breathed heavily, his hands on the ground, supporting his body, trying to get up as quickly as possible.
His vision became clear once more, and there, he saw his five subordinates, five Demi-God Ranks, decapitated. The knight approached him as the last body fell over, and Igmar turned around, crawling backward, attempting to escape from the knight. However, his effort was meaningless as the knight grabbed him by the neck and raised him in the air.
“I don’t want to make this painful for you, but I will if you keep resisting.”
Igmar heard the knight’s toneless voice, and his limbs stopped wriggling. He knew he could not escape from the God Rank and accepted his fate, being held like a cat. The most humiliating experience, but fortunately, no one looked at them. All the attention was on the three dragons.
“Listen to my order, and you will not have to experience pain. Don’t close your eyes and watch!”
That was a strange order, but again, he chose to follow the order instead of getting tortured or having his arm broken apart. The twenty God Ranks from the Gondar Alliance sandwiched from the two sides.
They could move forward and fight the three dragons, or they could turn around to make their way back to the city. The city was the only safe place from the three dragons.
The twenty God Ranks made their decision and ran toward the city. Igmar guessed they would try to make their way back to the city. That was the only hope for them. If they tried to fight the three dragons, the twenty God Ranks would support the dragon, and they would fight a lost battle.
Igmar was shocked by what happened next. The two dragons moved up, rushing toward the twenty God Ranks. Despite their massive size, they were too fast even for his eyes. They swooped toward the twenty God Ranks, and six of them turned around in time to block the dragon’s claw.
Three God Ranks for each dragon, and to his surprise, they stopped the dragon’s enormous claw from ripping apart their bodies. But then, they all disappeared, as if they were getting teleported out. Two dragons and six God Ranks disappeared from his sight, and next, he felt a strong heat from above.
Igmar looked up and saw a black fire explode in the sky, filling the sky with fire. There he saw the two black dragons and four God Ranks. That was right, there were only four God Ranks floating as two God Ranks were falling down.
In a closer look, he saw the two falling God Ranks’ bodies did not have a head, and their bodies were charred. Two God Ranks died, and he did not know how it happened. The shock did not stop there as next, he witnessed how the two black dragons easily killed the four God Ranks. They could not stop the Black Fire from burning them, but they survived the black fire. The most bizarre thing was that the four God Ranks fell from the sky ten seconds later. The two dragons did not even attack them, they just fell from the sky.
The two black dragons did not chase after the falling body. They returned to the six-headed dragon’s side. His eyes locked on the four God Ranks, and they crashed down freely. They were no longer moving, staying motionless on the ground, they were dead.
Igmar tried to search the remaining fourteen God Ranks who decided to force their way into the city. He guessed that the six God Ranks were sacrificing themselves to delay the dragon while the fourteen God Ranks tried to make an escape, but what he found were fourteen dead bodies.
The fourteen corpses were lying on the ground, right in front of the twenty God Ranks. It happened too fast, and he did not know how the fourteen God Ranks were killed easily. It was like him, a Demi-God Rank who fought against The Myth. He could kill the Myth Rank with a single slap, and with a little bit more effort, he could kill a Primordial Rank in ten to thirty seconds.
This was supposed to be a fight between God Ranks, but the reality showed him that this was no different than a God Rank against the Myth Rank or even lower than that. The power gap between the two sides was like Earth and Sky, too big.
Igmar finally understood why the knight forced him to watch the fight. This was a show for him, telling him how a fool he was trying to fight the Tang Empire, and this show was not just for him, but for the others to watch as well. The Emperor showed them all what it meant to fight the Tang Empire.
“I don’t understand. Why are you trying to fight him when you are so weak?” The knight sounded genuinely confused.
Igmar knew the Tang Empire and The Emperor were strong, but he did not expect them to be so strong that even the world with a longer Game Integration time could not compete against the Tang Empire.
*** ***
Igmar was not the only spectator of the show. All the Tang Empire’s high-ranking officers were present, watching the “fight” from inside the city. Not just them, but almost all factions returned from the dimensional tower when they heard what happened.
The first one to return from the tower was, of course, Herman Bonivido accompanied by his trusted aides. The moment Tang Shaoyang was out of the city, he was immediately notified that The Emperor was about to fight someone outside the city. That was when he found out Igmar brought twenty God Ranks with him.
Herman watched everything from the start to the end, and everything made sense now. It made sense why Tang Shaoyang treated him the way he did. The gap between them was too far, and Tang Shaoyang never looked at him as equal. The Emperor looked at him as a human, a harmless human. That was why the Tang Empire left them alone. However, he knew what awaited him the moment he turned against the Tang Empire.
Not just the United Sovereign, but the remaining seven big factions were here to watch everything. Everyone found out the gap between the Tang Empire and them. The System did not lie when it showed the Factions Leaderboard. Just like that, another big faction disappeared in Tang Shaoyang’s hand.
