Chapter 864: The Celestial realm IV
Of course, Kyle sensed the hostility. But he remained calm, preparing himself to fight if they attacked. The old Celestial in front of him shook his head and stared at him.
“No, you are wrong. You are absolutely wrong, young man! The Celestial Lake is special. Learning a natural law is not the same as receiving nature’s permission to rule over it without consequences.”
His eyes turned completely white.
“Countless individuals have mastered hundreds of natural laws in the Supreme Rank and Celestial Rank. But only the laws that nature has granted them permission to rule over, once they fully comprehend them, will appear in their Celestial Lake.”
Before the old Celestial could attack, a glowing card flew toward Kyle, and then a gaping rift opened up below his feet. It all occurred so fast that Kyle had no time to react. He was entirely swallowed by the fissure, disappearing without a trace.
“You need to leave!”
These were the last words Kyle heard. It was only a brief moment, but he also saw who helped him. It was the familiar shorty he met on the Bridge of Divinity. The same amethyst-eyed individual who attempted to trick him into thinking he was a weakling.
As he vanished into the rift, the space where he had stood was obliterated into tiny pieces. The elderly Celestial who had attacked him, along with the other elders seated behind the counters in the hall, all stared at the short man who had helped Kyle escape from the golden hall. Their eyes were filled with shock and disbelief.
“What was the meaning of this, Sir? You, the owner of one of the biggest Clans here, should know best that he was a threat.”
Ares scoffed at the old Celestial and his fellow elders who always sat behind the counters, performing their duties.
He wondered when and how the higher realm had become the way it was now. A long, long time ago, there was no Golden Hall of Light, no Bridge of Divinity. Those individuals who reached the Celestial rank could easily come and live here. After all, only they could enter this big realm.
Ares liked to act weak and help others. So they would become his followers. However, whenever he witnessed something like this, it never failed to amuse him how the Rulers—the strongest Celestials in the Celestial realm—had put their minions all around to kill anyone who could grow into a threat.
“Elders, you are all here to guide the newcomers, not kill them before they even set foot in the Celestial realm. That young man was just a second-stage Celestial. What threat could he possibly pose?”
Behind him, Cassian hummed.
’I knew Ares is still the same.’
His blood-red eyes glowed with a chilling intensity as he gazed at the old Celestials floating in the hall, their hostility evident in their unwavering stares at Ares. Or should he say, the guard dogs of the Rulers?
He wondered who that young human was. That man had caused the elders behind the counters to label him a threat. It seemed he had to alter his plans and follow Ares, who had likely sent the young man to his Clan.
The old Celestials gritted their teeth, their hostile gazes fixed on Ares. The voice of the elder who had attacked Kyle rose.
“Ares, your clan may be one of the strongest in the Celestial realm, but that doesn’t give you the authority to interfere with our duty.”
Ares smiled and shrugged.
“So? Go ahead, complain to the higher-ups. I might not be the strongest, but even those you all serve would think twice about killing me. If they did, my clan wouldn’t stand for it, and neither would many others. After all, who knows who they would target next?”
His smile widened as he watched the old Celestials fall silent. They knew, as well as he did, that his words held truth.
The Ruling Celestials in the Celestial realm might be strong, but they had killed many to maintain their positions. As a result, many were dissatisfied with their rule.
Ares turned back toward Cassian, a bit embarrassed that his weak image had been broken so quickly, and in front of the person he was trying to rope into his clan.
“How about we leave and talk about what we were discussing in another place? You know, I can explain why I am so strong.”
Cassian’s eyes flickered with amusement as the short man tried to explain himself.
Ares’ amethyst eyes looked guilty.
Cassian didn’t make things difficult and went along with his explanation because he had to find the hooded man through him.
After all, that man could very well be the strongest ally he could find in this place.
Moreover, by following Ares, he could avoid touching the orb that would reveal the colors of his Celestial Lake to others.
“I believe senior would have a reason to lie. You also helped that person escape. I will follow you, this place is very dangerous.”
Ares’s eyes gleamed as he chuckled.
“Good! By following me, you’ve made the best choice of your life! Come, let’s leave.”
He waved his hand, and the space before him broke apart, forming another rift.
However, as the pair were about to leave, one of the Doors leading out of the Hall swung open, and many gravely injured Giants poured in with panicked faces. One of them cried out toward the elders who were watching Ares and Cassian.
“Elders! The Dark Celestial who arrived earlier has escaped! He was hiding his true strength! He was actually far stronger than he appeared! Many of the Giants died due to him, and we can’t find him anymore!”
The elders’ eyes widened in shock. First, that human kid with so many colors in his Celestial Lake escaped, and now even that Dark Celestial who barged into one of the Doors leading outside the Golden Hall of Light escaped under their noses!
What the hell was really happening??
Ares let out a low, rumbling laugh at the words, the sound echoing through the air.
“Looks like something big is about to go down in the higher realm. Maybe the power structure will finally get a good shake-up.”
Cassian, standing behind him, watched everything with a smirk. His eyes filled with amusement. He hadn’t expected to see such a spectacle on his first day here.
They both vanished into the rift Ares conjured, leaving behind the fuming elders who shouted orders to the Giants to find the powerful Dark Celestial at all costs.
Cassian muttered inwardly.
’What a beautiful mess. This is just the beginning, of course. When it’s my turn, the mess would be even more beautiful. Wait for me, Nathaniel. We will meet soon.’
