Chapter 865: The Golden Guardians I
Kyle’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he emerged from the rift that swallowed him, landing on a grassy field. The rift vanished above him, dissolving into thin air.
“What exactly just happened?”
He muttered, his brow furrowed.
“Why did that amethyst-eyed person help me out of nowhere? I was certain I had to fight my way into one of the Doors leading out of the Golden Hall of Light.”
His gaze, calm and alert, swept across the landscape. Lush green grass stretched out before him as far as his eye could see.
His nose twitched, but detected only the faint scent of grass and damp earth.
No other presence lingered around him except the faint whisper of the wind.
“The air here is clean. It’s infused with spiritual energy and the power of nature. The mana and divine energy in the air are also very pure and abundant.”
“So this is the Celestial realm?”
He pondered, but as he attempted to float, he realized the stark contrast between their universe and the Celestial realm. The heavy weight pressing down on his body was at least a hundred times greater than before.
Perhaps that’s why only Celestials were allowed in this higher realm.
He wanted to sit down and meditate a bit, for the very air around him pulsed with the power of multiple natural elements. It was enough to advance his understanding, but knowing that the short man who sent him here could easily pinpoint his location and find him, he soared towards the sky, which was filled with stars even in the morning.
Kyle’s eyes widened slightly as he finally realized that the twinkling orbs in the clear sky weren’t stars at all. Instead, those orbs were colossal, irregularly shaped masses of earth, each encased in a shimmering, pulsating shield of energy.
“This…”
He spread his senses and then chuckled softly. It seemed he was currently floating inside a similar mass of earth, encased within a shimmering, powerful shield.
To make him even more intrigued, his senses were unable to reach beyond the confines of the glowing shield. Rather, they attracted the attention of the people in the place where he was present.
He vanished back when a figure appeared on his right, wearing a flowing dress and a veil covering the lower half of her face. Her figure was covered in silver jewelry as she snapped open the fan in her hand.
“Well, well, a newcomer? Did my dear Ares send you to the Clan territory?”
He remained silent, and she tilted her head.
“Are you deaf? Can’t you hear me?”
Kyle frowned but responded.
“I can hear you. I’m not sure who Ares is. A person with amethyst eyes sent me here. He helped me, but I don’t know him.”
The woman tsked and closed her fan.
“That’s Ares. Only he has amethyst eyes and white hair around here. If he sent you here and even helped you out, that probably means you are someone he’s recruited for the Clan. Welcome. I am the Gatekeeper of this land you’re currently on.”
Kyle nodded. Perhaps his confusion was clear as the woman spoke up again.
“I believe you’re new here. No need to be so guarded around me. I won’t eat you. I have a preference for bright hair and eyes. You, on the other hand, look quite plain.”
She smirked as his face stiffened. What surprised her was that he was already at the 2nd stage of Celestial rank when this man had just come from a lower universe. She had been in this realm for so long, yet she had barely reached the third stage.
Kyle rubbed the back of his neck. Well, it seemed the teardrop symbol was at least concealing his true appearance from this woman. Good. This meant this Celestial wasn’t a lot more powerful than him. He could handle her if she attacked.
She pointed her fan at him.
“I am Silver. Right now, you are in the territory of ’The Golden Guardians’ clan. It floats above the Celestial Realm’s surface. Now, introduce yourself so I can take you to the Clan as a new member. You can learn the rest from the others in the Clan.”
Kyle’s eyes flickered with amusement. The Golden Guardians? What a strange name.
“I am Kyle. I just arrived. What else do you need to know about me?”
Silver hummed in understanding.
“That’s enough for now. Follow me.”
She turned and vanished. Kyle followed close behind. The earth they were on was enormous, requiring them to maintain their full speed to reach their destination.
Kyle’s eyebrow twitched as a snicker echoed in front of him. Silver looked back.
“You know you can tell if I’m too fast, right? No need to try so hard to match my speed. I know I’m faster than others with my level of strength because I worked on my agility.”
He didn’t say a word, and her pride took a hit. She increased her speed more, but was stunned when he matched her pace.
’This old man with a young face, Ares discovered! How the hell is he so fast?!’
She would have increased her speed even more, but they reached their destination.
A huge Gate, adorned with jewels, towered amidst the lush, green field, welcoming the duo with an air of grandeur.
Kyle noticed the towering walls on either side of the Gate, hiding everything behind it. He was sure that even if he tried to fly over, he wouldn’t be able to enter the land.
His eyes lingered on the people standing guard in front of the Gate. They were clearly human-like, but had bird-like wings.
How intriguing.
Silver landed in front of the Gate, and the people greeted her with respect. He landed behind her, and many eyes traveled to him.
However, no one seemed surprised.
Instead, the winged individuals all sighed, looking at him sadly. They told him that Ares wasn’t bad, even if he had roped him into his Clan, pretending to be all weak.
Kyle just stared at them, bewildered. He didn’t understand what they were saying.
They opened the Gate for him and Silver, and his attention was immediately diverted. Silver shouted proudly before him.
“Welcome to our clan!”
