Chapter 1114 Down
Hughie didn't know much about spells. It was a miracle he had become a first-level warrior in the first place, and his environment had never given him the chance to purchase suitable abilities. Truth be told, Hughie didn't even have much interest in them.
Nevertheless, some things were common knowledge, even to those who didn't receive a proper education. Hughie knew the Global Army had devised all kinds of spells. Even the most peculiar and strange of them had reason and scientific rules behind them, but Khan seemed to have cast something entirely different.
Hughie couldn't help but shake at that sight. His whole body trembled and released torrents of sweat when he saw Khan shooting a lightning bolt with his mouth. Nothing felt right about the scene, and his survival instincts seemed to realize that, but the situation didn't give him time to think about it.
The expanding purple-red sphere had pushed the not-waters aside, delaying Hughie's landing on them, but the lightning bolt and its explosion had made the world shake, including the sea.
The isolated storm broke through its seemingly fixed boundaries. Tall waves rose, expanding everywhere with Khan at their center. Hughie thought his butt would slam into the sea, but he ended up being submerged by the incoming wall of not-waters before him.
Another panicked struggle unfolded, but Hughie knew everything was hopeless now. Prince Khan had thrown him far away from any handhold, and the wave had submerged him deeper than ever before. He couldn't even see the sea's surface, let alone reach it.
Hughie still struggled to no end, but his body didn't make any progress. He remained stuck deep into those not-waters, and the air in his lungs soon ran short. He was about to suffocate when the sea opened again.
Truth be told, the sea didn't actually open. The not-waters above and around Hughie disappeared, only leaving sparse drops behind. Gravity tried to apply its pull since Hughie found himself again mid-air, but something caught him by the collar, preventing him from falling.
Hughie understood what had happened before lifting his gaze. He noticed the blue glow and, looking up, revealed Khan's mostly naked and stern figure. The sea still expanded all around them but didn't dare close that vast cavity with Khan as its center.
"What is the White Mouse crew doing here?" Khan asked. His voice was cold, but no hisses mixed with it.
"Ah! Prince Khan!" Hughie exclaimed, giving up on trying to understand what was happening. "The Captain thought you might have needed a rescue party."
"Captain?" Khan wondered. "Didn't you call Clifford boss?"
"The Captain is Mister Ratré!" Hughie explained as if mentioning the third-level warrior's name would clear any confusion.
Khan looked at Hughie a little longer before rising through the air. The sea closed under them until the two flew above its surface. Nothing but clear skies surrounded them, but Khan smelled the traces of synthetic mana before they could reach his nostrils.
Those stinking traces stretched to Khan's right, seemingly aiming toward Coravis' orbit. However, he didn't immediately follow them. First, Khan looked to his left, inspecting the floating Great Old One's carcass before glancing at his feet.

The White Mouse crew had initially planned to plunder whatever Khan had left on Coravis, but the explosion of destructive mana had made everyone run for their lives. Mister Ratré himself had given the order, ignoring any potential financial gain to preserve his safety.
"How long still?!" Mister Ratré shouted from inside the bridge. "How can a ship take so long to leave a planet's atmosphere?!"
Clifford was at Mister Ratré's side but remained silent. He was mad he had to leave Hughie behind after his many warnings, but the situation looked hopeless. Prince Khan had proven himself to wield strange powers, but that blinding explosion had surpassed Clifford's wildest expectations.
The ship was about to reach a certain checkpoint in the atmosphere when everything started to flicker. The internal artificial illumination went on and off, and the control desk was no exception. The ride became unresponsive, continuing to rise diagonally through the sky due to its accumulated momentum.
A thudding noise resounded inside the ship as its whole hull shook before the pilot could voice his panic. The ride came to a sudden stop, and the three inside the bridge instinctively looked at the canopy, their survival instincts guiding their gazes.
The sight shocked the trio. Prince Khan stood half-crouched at the canopy, peeking at the ship's insides. Outside the tattered cape on his back and his silver crown, he was virtually naked, with his junk in full view of Clifford and the others.
Nevertheless, the trio only focused on the fainted man on Khan's shoulder and the downward thumb-up of his right hand. He was telling the White Mouse crew to get down, and the latter didn't have much of a choice there since the ship was turned off.
Khan's landing seemed to have dispersed the ship's momentum, so the vehicle plummeted. The artificial gravity was off, and the crew began to lose footing as the acceleration became drastic. Panicked screams resounded all over, but everything suddenly lit up again, and the autopilot did the rest.
The ship came to a sudden stop at some distance from the sea. The crew didn't take the abrupt landing well, but everyone was relatively okay, albeit in odd positions. Mister Ratré and Clifford were no exception, but their worries stretched far past the bruises received when the artificial gravity returned.
Clifford swallowed the hundredth curse of that trip as he struggled to his feet to inspect his surroundings. He could see most of his crewmembers from his position, and the sight reassured him, but looking past the canopy dispersed that temporary peace.
Khan was still outside. He couldn't sit on the vertical canopy now that the ship was horizontal but still floated before it. Moreover, his thumb was still pointing down, and his cold expression didn't promise much patience.
