Chapter 2634 - 2635: Memories Of The Old Archangel
-----
Memories flashed through Michael's mind, memories of her father, using his powers to Refine entire Galaxies to worship him.
Their Faith accumulating across quadrillions of inhabitants, now forced to worship him without any previous notice, without even trying to talk with them.
Back then Michael and her siblings didn't find anything bad about it, but when Lucifer rebelled against him and confronted him for what he was, something inside of their heads just clicked.
His words, his brave words… Even now, they resonate within her heart.
"You're no Creator, you're no Father, and you're no God! The only thing you are is but a Tyrant that abuses his power! Enslaving quadrillions of living beings to strengthen himself! I find nothing honorable or beautiful about it! You're disgusting! And I am sick and tired of ever serving you, father!"
"Lucifer…"
Michael murmured at a low voice, as Frank was still glancing at her, surprised by her previous response.
"Michael?"
"Ah…!"
Michael's eyes widened, as she quickly went back to reality.
"My apologies, I was just… reminiscing of the past. Did I say something weird?"
"You said… A name."
"Name?"
"Yes, you said Lucifer."
"Lucifer?! I did that…? Ah… I must've been thinking out loud…"
"Who's this Lucifer? Is he the same I know? Like… the one from, you know."
"Maybe, maybe not. Human Religion is only but a small adaptation of ancient scribes and oracles, it might even be rather inaccurate in many ways too… after all, no human lived what we did, so they will never be able to talk about these things accurately to begin with."
"…Right, I guess that's not wrong."
"I'm not saying Religion is bad, however. I believe it is a beautiful thing that can connect people and help them endure hard times and progress further… it can be the motivation for everyone to strive forward together and help one another."
"Yeah, I agree…"
"But it also comes with its shackles, tradition, ancient beliefs, sometimes, they can become rather outdated with current times. As societies advance forward, things change. People become smarter and more informed, they begin to question things, many of them sometimes begin to make no sense to them."
"Hmm… So what do you think then?"
"I believe that every human is free to choose what to do with their lives, whether it is dedicating their lives to a religion, or something else… I am happy as long as they find happiness, and as long as such happiness is not derived from the suffering of others…"
"Yeah, I agree with that too. Wait, but what if the ones suffering deserve it?"
"…Well, I am an angel, I cannot simply say that there's people that deserve suffering. I don't like being an hypocrite, even less I like acting like I am my Father, judging others… But if they commit crimes, then they deserve to pay for their crimes, be it that with work, possessions, their own time and freedom, or… their lives."
"Yeah, I imagined an angel would say something like that."
"Fufu…"
Michael giggled cutely, as Frank blushed lightly.
"I'm sorry, Frank, did I disappoint you? I suppose I wasn't what you expected me to be?"
"A-Ah… No, no, I think you're great, Michael. I really needed someone to talk and all of these things… I sometimes feel alone. I got Ruby too but… she doesn't talk back and usually doesn't understand what I'm saying either."
"I see… Well, I'm also glad you've given me freedom, Frank. Now! Shall we explore more?"
"Sure… Want to taste the fruit?"
"Ah! I am not sure I could eat… I haven't tried that yet, right?"
"You can try!"
Frank gave some of the fruit to Michael, who opened her mouth really awkwardly, eating the grapes.
She was able to bite them, and swallow them, and they didn't just fall off her ethereal body either, they were consumed as if she had a completely physical body and everything.
"T-This is… grapes… I haven't tasted such delicious grapes in eons! Ahh… And this…!"
She tasted the apples, and then the peaches, and the oranges, each one was a new flavor, giving her great happiness.
"These fruits.. I have not tasted them before… When I was on Earth, long, long ago… Where do they come from? What are their names?"
"Those are apples, oranges, peaches… Ah! But these are a bit weird, the ones from Earth are a bit different… I think most of them come from Asia?"
"Asia… a Land I never visited…"
"Well you're in Asia technically, Japan."
"Right! How amazing… it is truly a new civilization altogether."
"Where did you visit before, Michael? Back then?"
"My memory is a bit… blurry, but I believe I visited a place known as Jerusalem once."
"Ah, yeah, that's really far away… It's an Ancient City in the Middle East. So the angels visited the Middle East mostly? Why only there?"
"Father had chosen various Oracles there… It is where his religion spread first and more naturally as well… This world was one of the few he didn't forcefully make to worship him. Perhaps because he made humans on his own image, he has always been very fond of your kind."
"That's… I don't know what to say, a bit flattering?"
"All humans are his dear children," Michael smiled. "So be happy, indeed!"
"Well, you still love your father even after everything, huh?" Frank said, as the two walked around the forest, it was a relaxing walk and also a relaxing talk.
"I… of course. My father is my father, and I don't have any other than him. Despite what he did to us… I love him," Michael sighed. "I'm sorry, Frank… I know it might not sound… good for you. perhaps it doesn't make sense, but…"
"No… it's alright," Frank nodded, smiling at her. "My dad is also… well, he abandoned me and everything. But… I have faint memories with him, in my earliest childhood… And I loved my dad… I still love him… I just am mad he left mom, and I miss him…"
"I see… Indeed, we only have one father after all, right?" Michael smiled, patting his shoulders. "I'm glad I was able to find someone that I can relate with… thank you Frank, for your friendship and your words, for listening to me as well."
