Alex opened his eyes in hell.
Or at least, he thought he did.
The last thing he remembered was arriving in the middle of what felt like a storm, where he could neither see nor hear anything. Then came the sensation of falling from a great height.
He had tried to stop himself from falling, to try and fly, but the last attack Godslayer had used to try and kill the Sword God had left him vacant of every form of energy in his body, be it Qi, Spirit, Intent, or Blood Aura.
As a result, he could only let the inevitable happen.
He had fallen from a great height with no energy, so he was quite happy to realize that he was alive. His body was still in pain, but that was alright. It would heal soon enough.
He touched around and found his face covered in some sort of cloth. He pulled it out, and light streamed into his eyes.
He was in a room of some sort, a very broken-down room at that. He slowly got up, ignoring the cries of pain in him telling him to lay back down.
Where was he exactly?
He tried to use his spiritual sense, but as soon as his senses extended more than three meters beyond his own body, they immediately dissipated as if he had no control over them.
‘What?’
He tried again, and the same thing happened once more.
‘What the hell is going on?’ he wondered.
There was no pressure or anything stopping him from using his spiritual sense, but it was still being stripped away.
“Hey, Godslayer, do you know what is happening?” Alex asked.
However, no answer came.
“Godslayer?” Alex began worrying.
What had happened to him? He was supposed to be taking care of Midnight. If he was somehow unconscious, was Midnight alright?
Alex quickly attempted to go into his Spiritual Sea but found himself unable to at that very moment.
“Huh?” He tried again, and again he failed.
This time, it was different from what happened to his spiritual sense. This time, he felt a clear block, a barrier around his senses.
Alex tried to force his way into his Spiritual Sea and suddenly felt his entire body go stiff as a thunderous noise filled his ears, and he saw in his mind what looked like a flash of lightning.
Pain flared in his head at that very moment, causing him to scream aloud. It was an unbearable pain, caused by what felt like lightning bolts raging through his mind.
Alex understood at that moment that it was the doing of the Storm God.
A man came running into the room at that very moment and grabbed him. He pushed Alex back into the bed, telling him something that Alex could not understand.
As the pain in his mind faded, Alex could hear the man properly, and even then, he did not understand him.
Alex noticed two things about him at that moment.
First, whatever the Storm God had done before sending him to Hell to drown out his senses was still in effect. Whatever he heard was washed, most of its clarity blurred out.
Second, he did not understand the man in the slightest. For the first time in his life, Alex had met a man whose speech made no sense to him.
He stared at the man in confusion.
“What are you saying?” he asked, his own voice hoarse.
The man appeared surprised at that moment and said something else, but Alex couldn’t understand any of it. As the man spoke, he understood one word among all of his sentences.
Food.
The man gestured to his belly and then to Alex’s. Alex realized he was asking if he was hungry or telling him that he needed food.
Alex was about to refuse, but he realized that he did need some food. He nodded, hoping that was the gesture for accepting something. The man nodded along, smiling, and made a gesture for him to wait while he left.
Alex sat alone in the dark room, trying to understand more about what was going on.
He gently pressed on the barrier to his spiritual sense and felt pain creep up in his mind. He could not do anything there. The damn Storm God had placed a barrier around his Spiritual Sea so that he couldn’t enter it at all.
Dejected, Alex went on to see how Pearl and Whisker were doing. He was sure he had saved Pearl, but he hadn’t checked any more. When he did, however, he realized that even his Soul Space was blocked by the same barrier that was around his Spiritual Sea.
“I swear, if it is around my Dantian too…”
Alex hurriedly went to check and was thankful to realize that there was nothing blocking his Dantian. However, it was very empty at the moment. He would have to fill it again.
Alex began using the Five Yang Divine Path technique to gather the Qi from the surroundings but found it to not work at all. He immediately frowned.
“There is no Immortal Qi here at all?” he thought. “How the hell am I supposed to cultivate?”
It was a rather frustrating situation.
The man from before returned, carrying with him a large wooden bowl. He placed it before Alex, handing him a wooden spoon before making the gesture to eat.
Alex looked at what he was provided, trying to understand what it was. The darkness made it a little difficult to see everything, which made him frown.
Why was darkness affecting him?
He looked around again and nearly lost himself in anger once again. It was the damn Storm God’s doing.
‘Just let me get strong and find a way back. I will kill you,’ Alex thought.
The man quickly said something, seemingly urging Alex to eat the food.
Alex nodded and took a bite out of the meat soup before him. The taste of what he ate wasn’t something worth mentioning at all, but when he swallowed it, his body suddenly burned through that food.
When it did, it returned some Qi back to him.
