The Qi Alex got from the single bite was pathetically low. In fact, it was barely at the strength of True Qi, so it wasn’t even useful to Alex at that moment.
Still, the tiny bit of Qi went into his dantian.
Alex quickly took another bite, and that too was a pathetic amount of Qi. But he continued eating more. Bit by bit, the Qi in his body gathered in his dantian. When he finished eating everything, the amount of Qi he had wouldn’t even be enough to help a person break through beyond the Skin Tempering realm.
The man who stood there watching him eat smiled and took aside the empty bowl. He pushed Alex back onto the bed, trying to tell him something, which Alex took to mean that he needed to rest.
Alex concurred.
Once the man left with the bowl, Alex was left with the pitiful amount of True Qi in his body and the feeling of an empty stomach.
‘Shit. I’m still hungry.’
Alex lay on the bed for a while, thinking about what he could do. His surroundings were full of True Qi, which he couldn’t gather. Thankfully, the True Qi he did get from eating that meal still stayed in his dantian.
Normally, it would be expelled from his body each time he began to cultivate, replacing it with Immortal Qi. But since cultivating didn’t do anything at all, Alex kept it there.
It was still useless as it was, but once he gathered some more Qi, he could maybe do something about it. For now, he needed to rest and heal.
His Undying God’s physique would speed up the healing process anyway.
‘The Sword God didn’t know much about the Undying God’s physique at all,’ Alex thought. The man had believed that Alex would die as long as he was out of Qi, but that was not true at all.
That was only true for the earlier two stages of the Undying Physique.
After reaching the 3rd Stage, Alex would come back to life from the smallest physical matter that remained. Even if just a single drop of blood wasn’t destroyed, and it still had enough connection to him, he could come back to life from that blood.
And if nothing of his physical body remained, so long as he had a soul, he would come back to life.
He would return to the same state in which he died, however, which after a few kills usually meant without any Qi. Still, without Qi, his body would heal.
Since he was only in the early phase of the 3rd Stage, it would still take him a while before he could heal instantaneously without Qi.
Alex tried once again to peek into his Spiritual Sea but felt the pain come back once again. It felt stupid to do the same thing over and over again, but he expected a different result after some time.
A God he may be, but even the Storm God couldn’t be so much stronger than Alex that he couldn’t rid his body of whatever he had placed within him. He would most certainly pierce through that veil and reach the Soul Space and Spiritual Sea.
He worried, though, that he might be too late. In one place was the budding spirit that was Midnight, each day becoming weaker in the absence of its body.
In the other place were Pearl and Whisker. Alex wasn’t exactly worried about those two, but the fact that he would have to leave those two with the two trees unchecked worried him.
He had to make sure the two trees didn’t hurt his two beasts.
Alex remained on the stiff bed for a long time, simply staring at the sky. He didn’t feel the need to sleep, so all he could do was stay there in the dark room and let his mind wander.
He was sent to Hell for a prophecy of doom. He finally had the freedom to think about what the prophecy meant. Was he ever going to destroy this world?
The answer was obviously no, but what if he had no choice? What if it was someone else using his body? What if something happened in the future that caused him to change as a person?
It was hard to deny that he would always remain the same man as he was. He could already tell he was changing at this very moment.
‘No, I will still never do that,’ Alex thought.
After some time, he finally felt as though the room was getting brighter. Through the top of the wall, he could see light spilling in. It wasn’t a very bright light, but it was enough for him to see.
His senses were drowned, but they weren’t entirely mortal just yet.
Seeing as morning was coming, Alex decided to get up. His body would be wounded and in pain for a long time, and sleeping alone wasn’t going to help him, so there was nothing wrong with leaving.
He made his way out of the room and found himself in a sort of hall with doors leading to other rooms. There were surprisingly quite a few people asleep all around the hall, like drunkards sleeping without care after a long night of partying.
Alex gently stepped past these people and made his way outside.
As he arrived outside, he stepped on sand. The land outside was bright enough for him to see everything, from the white sand to the palm trees all around. As he walked forward, he saw the massive mountain with green trees that led all the way up.
Alex was a little stunned to see such a sight. As he looked at the mountaintop, he saw the sky with shimmering white light spreading all around.
Alex looked up at the sky and noticed the purple colors in it as dawn began approaching. Walking away from the hut, he saw the sea in the distance, the gentle waves crashing onto the shore.
On the horizon, he could see the dawn.
Alex could have never guessed that Hell was this beautiful.
