Alex stared at the Grand Elder for a long time, his eyes the only part of him visible through his visor. He straightened his body and said, “You shouldn’t attempt to keep me hostage. I don’t deal well with people who try to keep me somewhere against my will.”
He raised his blade toward the Grand Elder. “I have yet to kill anyone in the inner regions of Hell, but if you force me to, you will be the first.”
The Grand Elder harrumphed. Not one of Alex’s words made a dent on what he believed.
“You have already lost to us,” the man said. “Do not claim that you have the strength to kill us.”
Alex narrowed his eyes, looking toward everyone. “If you wish for my secret — the secret of the Elixir — come attack me. But I will warn you all, anyone who joins in on the attack will die.”
Alex hoped his words would be enough of a deterrent for most of the people gathered, but instead they only laughed. The Grand Elder laughed the most of them all.
“You can act strong and whatnot, but we all know how strong you are. You have lost to us already, so your only choice is to give up your secret,” the Grand Elder said. “No one will come save you.”
“I don’t need any help. I’ll kill you myself.”
Alex dashed.
The Grand Elder’s eyes narrowed immediately. “Get into formation!” he shouted and many of the previous fighters began using their array. It affected Alex almost instantly, delaying him by mere moments.
Those moments were all that the Grand Elder needed to step out of the way.
Alex landed where the Grand Elder had previously been, frowning at the array. It needed to go.
“You damn maniac!” the Grand Elder shouted. “You really thought you could kill me. I’ll show you what true might is. I won’t kill you. I will beat you until you give up your recipe.”
He turned to his men next and ordered:
“Attack!”
When he turned back, Alex was right in front of him. The man barely managed to bring his sword up in time, blocking the blow. He was sent flying away, crashing onto the outer walls of his sect.
The other disciples and elders surrounded Alex instantly, trying to defeat him all at once.
They sorely overestimated their strength.
Alex slashed through the horde of fighters. Some lost their arms. Some lost their legs.
A few lost their heads, dying right then and there.
Panic filled the crowd as they began calling upon the others to help. Bloody screams spread through the sect almost immediately.
The Grand Elder got out of the rubble, turning toward the disciples that were staying close to the walls. “Go call the elders and Sect leader. Call everyone you can. Tell them there is an enemy at the gate.”
The disciples forced themselves out of their fear and ran.
The Grand Elder got ready to join the fight, brandishing his sword again. When he did, he noticed that his sword had been bent at an angle. It had become unusable.
“What in the…”
More screams filled the air as more people died in front of the sects. Heads, limbs, and torsos flew in every direction. Blood pooled on the solid ground, streaming all around.
As the people fought Alex, their steps splashed the puddles of blood around. Soon, there was a thin red mist hanging in the air where they fought.
The Grand Elder failed to understand what had happened. How had someone who had clearly failed badly against half of them earlier now showing newfound strength? Something did not align with his understanding of the man before him.
Still, he put on a brave face and pulled out a spare sword from his storage bag, and gave out an order.
“Kill him!”
Everyone tried to. No one succeeded.
Alex had killed over a dozen people who attacked him before he felt the pressure of the array increase once again. The delay in his reaction increased again, making it difficult to attack in time.
He used his Intent, fighting against the array. He pushed against it, resisting its effects on his body. His reaction speed improved.
He turned toward the people far away who were too weak to join the fight, but were enough to use their array.
Alex stepped away from the horde that tried to kill him and addressed those disciples. “Do not join this fight,” he told them. “Or I will be forced to kill you too.”
The disciples trembled at his words. The brief moments of carnage Alex had shown were enough for them to feel scared. They fell into a dilemma.
Before they could even decide themselves, however, someone spoke with a tremendous voice.
“Do not heed the words of your enemies!” the voice said. “Keep using your array. We have arrived, and we shall soon end this enemy.”
Alex stared at the newly arrived individual, clad in robes far more decadent than what the rest of the disciples and elders were wearing. Men and women both, followed by many other stronger people behind them.
The man who just spoke pointed toward Alex and continued, “You shall pay for your crimes.”
Alex didn’t bother explaining himself. “If you want to add to my kill count, be my guest,” he said. “Anyone who attacks me will die today.”
Spears, axes, hammers, swords, and sabers — weapons of every type flew out from the storage of everyone who was here to fight. They surrounded Alex, their faces angered at the sight of their dead sect members.
Each one of them wanted to kill Alex now, and Alex wanted to kill each one.
Alex looked at each one, taking their faces into his memory. These were the people he would kill.
As the added pressure of the array from the newly arrived individuals settled on his mind, Alex let it fall onto him entirely. Fighting back was useless here. Instead, he had to fight a different way.
Sparks of white light zipped around his body, surrounding the 3 meters around him, as Alex began employing his Sword Domain.
