Abuse of children is one of the most heinous and unforgivable crimes that a person can commit.
In one’s formative years, childhood trauma literally re-writes the brain’s circuitry in order to protect itself and forever alters their development and behavioral patterns.
Even if there were to be a resolution of one’s applicable trauma, there still would be no return to ‘normalcy’.
Even though Lailah and her mother have a fairly good relationship now, in the original timeline things were not so picture perfect.
Lailah was a meek girl who wanted nothing more than a family’s approval and affection. She didn’t get any from her mother, and she certainly didn’t get it from her sisters.
And the sole reason she received all of their unjust hate and scorn, was all because of this man right here.
Geb is the Egyptian deity of the earth. But before he was placed into that role, he had a much less significant impact as Sei’s Queen Consort.
That is, until he reached the pinnacle of evolution and Asherah gave him a new purpose with ascendancy.
But that was almost an eternity ago. And only one of a countless number of possible origins for the ancient god.
He didn’t even remember the timeline where he had created Lailah. As far as he knew, he had no other significance in her life other than being an old acquaintance.
“I…”
Truthfully, Lailah had met Geb several times before today. But this was her first time seeing him ever since Abaddon had helped her remember the events of the prior timeline.
Now, she felt awkward looking at the green-skinned god. Too many emotions and different avenues of thought were already thrashing about in her mind.
Luckily for her, Tatiana was an adept partner for circumventing awkward situations.
She quickly stood up and forced a picture-perfect smile on her face and held out her hand for both of them to shake.
“Geb. Nut. It’s been quite a long time.”
The woman standing beside Geb was Nut. His sister, and the only love interest of his that the history books would ever recognize.
She was a primordial goddess of the sky. Not much different from the dearly departed Greek deity Ouranos.
Nut was a sharp, sometimes prickly woman who had differing public perception depending on who you asked.
“Tatiana. I’m envious of your beauty once again.” Nut replied as she took her hand.
Tati already knew that, but hearing her say it out loud was really good for the ego.
“Aww, I don’t want to hear any of that negativity!”
Geb swept Nut up into his arm and tipped her over as if they were performing an intimate dance.
“You are still the most bewitching woman in this room. What is a dragoness of beauty when compared to you, my darling?”
“Oh, you eternal flirt…” Nut blushed. The stars within her skin shone just a hair bit brighter.
“Aww, come here girl…”
It was extremely rare for Tatiana and Lailah to be on the receiving end of unwanted PDA. It was usually either Asmodeus or Nyx who found some way to make them uncomfortable, but this was entirely out of left field.
Nubia was a gentle woman who loved the idea of love in all of it’s various forms, but this particular brand of love just wasn’t something that she could get behind.
As a person with enough siblings to start her own soccer team, incest was something that Nubia couldn’t even fathom.
The very thought made her want to retch. Especially when she recalled some of the smells they could produce.
It was hard for her not to look at the two of them in disgust, so she just turned her head to the side to avoid looking.
However, she did so just in time to witness the moment when Lailah, who had been relatively quiet so far, suddenly bent back the metal arms of her chair as if they were made of silly putty.
For some reason, Nubia couldn’t help but feel that even though she had just chastised her mother for being mean earlier, she had no idea just how mean she could truly get.
But she might just see soon enough…

Abaddon stood behind the living room sofa, hovering over it like a titan of dread.
Sitting beneath him and subjected to his terrifying gaze was a human male who trembled like a leaf.
Aj was sitting on the sofa with near-perfect posture.
Sweat was running down his back in such a concerning amount that he was close to fainting from dehydration.
“Good movie, huh?”
Aj nodded his head suspiciously hard. “Y-Yes, sir. R-Real good! The best ever!”
Courtney was sitting two feet away and looking significantly less amused.
Her arms were folded and the vein bulging in her head was almost big enough to require its own zip code.
“It’s ‘Shrek 2’…” She grumbled while rubbing her brow.
“A-And I love it! It’s a cinematic masterpiece!” AJ nodded so hard that he nearly tossed his head off his body.
“That’s good, we thought so too.” Abaddon smiled evilly. “Isn’t that right, pumpkin?”
Odessa was sitting atop Abdaddon’s shoulder; largely unaware of everything that was going on, but smiling and happy nonetheless.
Courtney finally couldn’t take it anymore as she whirled around. “Dad, please! Don’t you have something anything that you could be doing other than standing over us!?”
“Your moms are napping.” He shrugged.
“Your other children??”
Abaddon pointed to the infant on his shoulder.
“One of the ones who can walk around and do stuff on their own??”
Abaddon rolled his eyes. “None of you are any fun once you get big.”
If AJ wasn’t so terrified he would find this funny.
“I swear when they finally build a nursing home big enough to lock you in it I am going to throw away the key!” Courtney glared at her father.
Abaddon pretended to look shocked. He even went so far as to hold a hand up to his chest while making a pained expression.
He then turned his head to the daughter on his shoulder. “You hear that, little sweetness? Sounds like your share of the inheritance just got a little bit bigger!”
Again, Odessa just showed a gummy smile as she tried to put her father’s cheek in her mouth.
Courtney finally couldn’t take it and used the last threat she had in her arsenal.
“Please leave us alone, or I’m telling Mom!”
Now, Abaddon finally looked like he’d been betrayed.
“Low blow, Courtney. And here I was thinking that you enjoyed my company.”
Courtney patted her father on the shoulder apologetically. “I do at literally any other time, dad. Just not now.”
Abaddon started to respond when his ears suddenly twitched.
He blinked a couple of times and nodded reluctantly.
“I get it… It just so happens that I have something I need to do now anyway.”
He lifted Odessa off of his shoulder and held her out in front of Courtney. “Here, watch Odie while I’m gone.”
Courtney took her with a suspicious look in her gaze. “Why can’t you take her?”
“It’ll be good for you to familiarize yourself with the consequences of-“
“DAD!”
Abaddon snickered as he stole a kiss on Courtney’s cheek. Before she could punch him for his joke, he vanished in a column of black and red fire.
Courtney sighed in relief as she sank down into her seat. She smiled at AJ apologetically.
“I’m sorry about him… I-I promise he isn’t really this overbearing. He’s just overly excited to do the whole overprotective dad thing for once… He kind of missed out with the others.” Nubia scratched the back of her head.
“I-I’m cool, I wasn’t intimidated at all.” Aj said with a forced smile.
Courtney snickered. “Really? That’d make you braver than most.”
Courtney didn’t hear Aj’s heart skip a beat. Somehow, it seemed like Odessa did though.
Aj glanced at the space between them and swallowed.
Ever so subtly, he started trying to inch himself closer.
“COURTNEY!”
Suddenly, Apophis hopped into the gap between Courtney and her sweaty crush. In his hand, he held a wooden bowl filled with another of his strange creations.
And once one came, they all did.
Belloc, Straga, Bashenga, and even Bayle showed up and sat down on the couch with them.
Courtney felt an ulcer forming.
“You gotta check this out.” Apophis said excitedly. “It’s a ceaser salad, but instead of croutons? I used pizza rolls.” He lifted his chin proudly.
Straga: “The man’s a genius.”
Belloc: “I’m actually jealous I didn’t inherit this level of creativity.”
Bashenga: “Why was I not also summoned to watch ‘Shrek 2’?”
Courtney didn’t know if she should scream or commit a round of siblicide the likes of which had not been seen since Cain and Abel.
–
Once Abaddon left the living room, he ventured towards the nearest staircase where he promptly took a seat on the steps.
‘It’s been so long since I have actually been summoned… I forgot how much I hated it.’
Closing all eyes except for the one on his forehead, Abaddon allowed his mind to drift through space and time to the one who was actually bold enough to call him.
In a familiar golden throne room, a man was coughing loudly to himself as he stood over a pyre in the center of the room.
The burning body of a komodo dragon was sliced open and slowly being consumed by the flames of the pit.
“Unsightly beast…” Izanagi muttered.
“I could say the same to you.”
Izanagi looked up at the ceiling.
The black smog had floated up to the ceiling and stuck together in one large mass.
There, one could see a very large and very unfriendly crimson eye staring down menacingly.
“I can think of so many more faces that I would have rather been summoned by than you, Izanagi. Would you like me to list them for you?”
