Chapter 2142 – Dying For You
Luo Qingdi said coolly, “You aren’t worthy of knowing who I am.”
The Angler’s eyebrows rose. “Oh, is that so?”
Boom!
Luo Qingdi threw a punch, and the surrounding space exploded. A blue fist imprint swathed in dazzling Dao Light came crashing ruthlessly down.
The Angler snorted coldly, then waved his hand and clashed with it head-on.
Bang!!
The nearby skies collapsed and split in countless places. Old Man Providence was sent flying backward, his aged face alternating white and green. He looked utterly wretched.
“Who the hell are you?” he cried out in surprise.
Su Yi couldn’t help but be surprised too. The River Lord had told him about Luo Qingdi, but all he said was that a long, long time ago, he was an unparalleled figure among Master Gods, and that both he and Luo Xuanji hailed from the Undying Phoenix Race. Su Yi hadn’t anticipated that Luo Qingdi would be this ferocious! He’d just forced the Angler’s true body back in a single punch!
“I said it already. You’re unworthy of learning my name,” Luo Qingdi said coolly.
He was thin, with disheveled hair, and he looked haggard. However, he had a tyrannical momentum, as if he could dominate heaven and earth and devour stars!
The Angler’s expression shifted.
“Ah, but what if we join him? Will we be worthy of learning your name then?” said a voice like the clanging hum of a sword.
When the group looked over, they saw yet another terrifying figure standing in the distant void. He stood on a wooden sword, and he looked young, but as he moved, tides of sword intent swept out in all directions, shattering countless stars.
Two others appeared shortly after.
There was a mature beauty seated on a Vermillion Bird bathed in flame. When it beat its wings, it stirred up all-encompassing firelight.
Then there was a tall, stalwart man in beast skins, like a mountain in miniature. His entire body emanated a turbulent maelstrom of murderous intent.
Su Yi couldn’t have been any more familiar with these three. They were Master God Yun He of the Three Purities Daoist Court, Wenren Qin of the Wenren Family, and Master God Tian Huang!
All three of them had come in person, and their imposing auras weren’t one whit inferior to Old Man Providence’s.
When Luo Qingdi saw this, his brow furrowed, but he didn’t panic.
Su Yi, however, sensed that something was amiss. “You should all be stuck in the Boundless Battlefield. How’d you manage to leave?”
The mysterious Luo Yao, the woman who called him Daoist Brother, had told him that she and her fellows had been locked in combat with Master God Yun He and the others all this time. None of them could leave. Yet now, Master God Yun He and the others had come for him in person. Clearly, something had happened.
“Hah. Why concern yourself with that even in the face of death?” Master God Yun He sneered.
“There’s no harm in telling you. Not long ago, something unexpected happened in the Boundless Battlefield. All of your old friends are trapped inside,” said Wenren Qin from the back of her Vermillion Bird. “It might just be a few more years before a tribulation kills them all.”
Su Yi furrowed his brow. Something happened in the Boundless Battlefield? No, that shouldn’t have happened.
In the Immortal Realm’s Epoch Battlefield, Luo Yao and many of his old friends’ avatars appeared to help him intercept his enemies. Nothing had changed in the Boundless Battlefield then. In other words, something had happened during his two years exploring the River of Epochs?
“What could you possibly have to say to that heretic? Let’s just attack together and kill them all!” shouted Divine Venerate Tian Huang. He was seething with murderous intent.
His voice boomed like thunder, making the surrounding nine hundred thousand miles of void quiver. His murderous intent locked firmly onto Su Yi.
“If you want to kill Fellow Daoist Su, you’ll have to get through me first,” said Luo Qingdi. He stepped forward, his gaze cold and indifferent.
At the same time, he ordered Luo Xuanji, “Little Sister, once I’ve opened up a path, bring Fellow Daoist Su and escape.”
“Got it!” said Luo Xuanji.
“Haha! All by yourself?” Master God Tian Huang threw back his head and laughed.
“I’m enough to beat you,” Luo Qingdi said coldly.
Boom!
He took a sudden step forward, then split into two identical figures. They then split into four, then eight….
Within just a few blinks of an eye, he’d manifested countless Dao Clones.
Every last one of them had a far-reaching, endlessly tyrannical aura. Together, they were like a boundless army!
“Attack!” bellowed the Angeler. He raised and waved his hand, and endless silver radiance swept out like a boundless river of stars.
Master God Yun He, Wenren Qin, and Master God Tian Huang all attacked at once.
“Get him!” Master God Yun He’s wooden sword rose and swung, stirring up endless sword light.
Wenren Qin raised and swung her hand. The Vermillion Bird rose, then transformed into a fiery jade ruler.
Master God Tian Huang was even more direct. He gripped a bronze battle-axe, then leaped into the fray.
Many of Luo Qingdi’s Dao Clones exploded, but he remained perfectly calm. He wasn’t the least bit concerned. On the contrary, he let out a low bellow, and his true body charged into battle, fighting alongside his countless clones.
Boom!!
This grand battle erupted suddenly, complete with sweeping divine radiance and all manner of divine treasures whooshing through the void, as if intent on shattering it.
“Fellow Daoist Su, let’s run!” Luo Xuanji raised her hand, and bright red lightning surged forth, wrapping around her and Su Yi and carrying them into the distance.
“But if we leave, what will happen to your brother?” Su Yi furrowed his brow.
“My brother will be fine,” said Luo Xuanji, as calm as could be. “Even if he dies, we won’t have any regrets or resentment.”
Su Yi’s gaze focused.
“Fellow Daoist Su, you needn’t worry about this. Earlier, I went to such lengths to survive because I wanted to see my brother again,” said Luo Xuanji, her gaze soft and determined. “My brother feels the same way. We agreed to help the River Lord and see you safely to the God Domain, so we naturally must do just that!”
Su Yi fell silent. He knew that the situation was urgent and that there was no time to ponder or hesitate. Still, he couldn’t help but be furious. Others were going to their deaths on his behalf!
“Hurry up and stop him!” roared the Angler.
The four enemy Master Gods attacked with all their might in a frenzied bid to intercept Su Yi and Luo Xuanji.
But Luo Qingdi stopped them!
His countless clones broke, one after another, but the clones didn’t care. All of them fought with all their might, relentlessly holding their enemies back.
Su Yi turned his head. All he saw was Luo Qingdi’s valiant figure fighting a tumultuous battle and gradually vanishing into endless divine radiance.
“If anything happens to your brother, I’ll make sure they pay for this in blood!” Su Yi said slowly and clearly. His eyes shone with cold, distant, murderous intent.
Even though he’d anticipated that the journey to the God Domain wouldn’t go smoothly, he hadn’t expected his enemies to appear in the flesh so fast.
“I’m sure my brother would be happy to hear that,” Luo Xuanji said solemnly.
They’d already fled the battlefield, and they were now hurtling toward the God Domain with all their might. With Luo Xuanji, the former ruler of a forbidden zone, leading the way, their speed was shocking to behold.
“Aren’t… you worried about your older brother?” Su Yi couldn’t help but ask. He’d noticed Luo Xuanji had remained calm throughout this entire process, with no sign of franticness or worry.
Luo Xuanji said gently, “Fellow Daoist, you don’t know this, but we bade each other farewell before we set off just in case. So long as we escort you safely to the God Domain, our lives and deaths don’t matter.”
Su Yi’s heart churned. He only now realized that the Luo siblings had been prepared to die for him this entire time!
He sighed. “Is it worth it?”
It seemed to him that his bonds with Luo Xuanji weren’t all that deep, and he’d only just met Luo Qingdi, yet they were prepared to lose their lives to save him!
Su Yi found that hard to take.
“It’s worth it!” said Luo Xuanji without missing a beat. “Fellow Daoist, helping us might not have meant much to you, but to me, it meant more than anything, even my life, because… I finally got to see my brother again.”
A heartfelt, relieved smile appeared on her face.
Su Yi instantly fell silent.
But then, a grand Buddhist chant emanated from afar. “It’s a pity, Luo Xuanji, but even if you risk your life, Su Yi is sure to die today.”
Moments later, everything swayed, and endless Buddhist light surged forth, blanketing the distant stars and illuminating everything in all directions.
The light seemed immeasurable, grand, and holy!
A gaunt monk emerged from the light shortly after, holding a bronze lamp aloft on his outstretched palm.
The Dipankara Buddha! One of the mighty Buddhas of the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains!
“That’s right. We’ve been waiting here for you for a long time. If we let you escape now, it would make us seem a bit too inept,” said a mellow, aged voice.
A rain of clear light surged in the distance, condensing into three thousand hovering Dao Lotuses in bloom.
The Dao Lotuses swayed, like reflections of three thousand self-contained worlds.
A tall, thin Daoist approached through the lotuses. He wore a lotus crown, and he had a willowy beard. He gripped a fly whisk, and his entire body emanated a lofty, transcendent air.
Yun Xiao, another Master God of the Three Purities Daoist Sect!
He was Master God Yun He’s senior apprentice brother, as well as an ancestor-level figure among the God Domain’s Daoists!
“Li Fuyou! We heard about your accomplishments in the Path of the Ancient Gods, but alas. You’ll get no further opportunities!” someone suddenly bellowed.
He was a tall, stalwart man with long, blood-red hair. Demonic qi rolled off him in waves, shaking his surroundings.
The Severed Heavens Demon Master, yet another Nine-Tribulation Master God!
Su Yi’s heart sank, and his brow furrowed. These three were even more troublesome than the Angler!
The stars were in turmoil. Endless Buddhist, Daoist, and demonic light covered the road ahead.
Together, the Dipankara Buddha, Master God Yun Xiao, and the Severed Heavens Demon Master were like an insurmountable barrier. The mere sight of them was enough to make someone give in to despair.
But when Luo Xuanji saw this, her gaze didn’t even ripple. She just said gently, “Fellow Daoist, I’ll open a path for you to escape through. No matter what happens after that, don’t look back.”
Su Yi gazed intently at her, but in the end, he just nodded.
There was nothing he could say; no words would be sufficient to express how he felt at the moment.
He couldn’t refuse. He knew it would be useless. It would just come across as indecisive, and worse, it would only interfere with what Luo Xuanji was trying to do!
