Chapter 2143 – I Don’t Kill the Nameless
“Luo Xuanji, you alone cannot stop us.” The Dipankara Buddha shook his head. He naturally knew that Luo Xuanji was not of the present day, and that she was the terrifying former master of a forbidden zone.
But so what? The three of them naturally had ways of dealing with her!
“How will I know if I don’t try?” Luo Xuanji said icily.
She returned to her true appearance, with a fiery dress and hair as white as snow. Mysterious, bright-red Divine Laws hovered around her.
“Li Fuyou, how proud and contemptuous were you back then? You’d have died in battle before you’d retreat, so why have you become so cowardly? Do you really dare do nothing but hide while a woman risks herself on your behalf?” jeered the Severed Heavens Demon Master.
Su Yi just laughed dryly. “If you really think you’re so brave, would you dare fight me one-on-one?”
The Severed Heavens Demon Master’s eyes flashed. “Truly?”
“You’re welcome to try it,” said Su Yi. “We’ll see which of us dies first!”
His gaze was calm and composed, and he stood there, not the least bit panicked. On the contrary, he seemed incomparably calm and domineering.
The Severed Heavens Demon Master frowned, then snorted coldly. “Hmph! You’ve only just become a god. You’re in no way qualified to fight me one-on-one!”
Su Yi laughed. “You wouldn’t dare? You’re as cowardly as ever, Severed Heavens! Are you afraid that if something happens to you, those old bastards Dipankara and Yun Xiao will take advantage of the situation?”
The Severed Heavens Demon Master’s expression filled with uncertainty.
“Laughable. How could we possibly just stand back and watch as something happened to Fellow Daoist Severed Heavens?” Master God Yun Xiao frowned. “Heretic, your attempts to stir up discord between us are unseemly.”
“Li Fuyou was highly capable, with a magnificent bearing. This heretic really is unseemly by comparison.” The Dipankara Buddha shook his head.
“Oh?” said Su Yi. He looked at the Severed Heavens Demon Master. “Would you dare fight me now that they’d said that?”
“….” The Severed Heavens Demon Master’s expression shifted erratically, but in the end, he said coldly, “I told you, in your state, you’re in no way worthy of dueling me!”
Su Yi laughed. His jeering made the Severed Heavens Demon Master scowl.
The Dipankara Buddha and Yun Xiao frowned too. Severed Heavens has too many reservations. It’s simply… embarrassing!
“Fellow Daoist, they’re stalling for time!” Luo Xuanji said with a frown. “We cannot afford to delay. I’m going to send you off immediately!”
Whoosh!
She raised her hand, and a dazzling, resplendent, blood-red scroll unfurled, wrapping around Su Yi.
Su Yi didn’t try to stop her. He just gazed intently at Luo Xuanji and said, “I am looking forward to our next meeting.”
He spoke with complete assurance, as if it were obvious that the day would indeed come when they met again.
Luo Xuanji was briefly stunned, but then, her eyes shone, and she smiled. “I’m looking forward to it, too.”
Boom!
Off in the distance, the Dipankara Buddha attacked suddenly, condensing a Buddhist seal so vast that it blotted out the surroundings as it descended.
The void quivered, split, and collapsed.
The power of that Buddhist seal was terrifying beyond measure!
Luo Xuanji waved her hand through the air, and… boom!
The red scroll shot into the distance and carried Su Yi away.
At the same time, Luo Xuanji took a step forward, raised her hand like a blade, and effortlessly cleaved through the Dipankara Buddha’s seal.
“You think you can run? Like hell!” Master God Yun Xiao bellowed, and his three thousand Dao Lotuses swayed, like three thousand boundless worlds rising into the air to intercept Su Yi. Endless Dao Light shot forth, sealing the road ahead off completely.
“Break!” Luo Xuanji’s long white hair fluttered around her, and her slender figure erupted with fiery divine radiance as she drew her fingertip through the air.
Kcch!!
The entire stretch of stars shook, and a streak of endlessly sharp, bright red Dao Light descended from on high.
Boom——!
A heaven-shaking rumbling followed. The three thousand Dao Lotuses swayed and scattered divine radiance.
A perfectly straight rift appeared between the three thousand Dao Lotuses.
The power of that slash left even Yun Xiao unwittingly stunned. What… terrifying, ferocious power she has!
But at the same time, a battle-axe appeared out of nowhere, cleaving open the skin of Luo Xuanji’s back and almost killing her on the spot!
It was the Severed Heavens Demon Master. He swung his battle-axe with ruthless force.
But when he saw Luo Xuanji’s wounds, he was instantly stunned. Because she hadn’t tried to dodge! She’d chosen to suffer injuries and block his strike in the name of clearing a path for Su Yi!
Moreover, even after she was injured, she didn’t seem to care in the slightest, nor did she turn her head to look behind her. Instead, she stepped down on the void, her figure blurring as she attacked the Dipankara Buddha.
The Dipankara Buddha activated his bronze lamp and was about to intercept Su Yi when he saw Luo Xuanji charging at him. Despite himself, his brow furrowed.
Boom!
Luo Xuanji struck decisively. A long, curved saber that glinted like the moon shot out of her sleeves and attacked furiously.
The saber’s edge burned like fire, as red as blood. She struck with the unstoppable momentum of someone who’d cast aside all thoughts of life and death!
The Dipankara Buddha finally lost his cool. This woman is simply insane! She’s risking it all!!
He couldn’t afford to concern himself with anything else, so he poured his strength into the lamp and clashed with her head-on.
Kaboom!
The entire area exploded. A rain of light scattered, and the Dipankara Buddha was forced back.
At the same time, Luo Xuanji was injured once more. When the lamp’s strange, imposing Buddhist light swept over her delicate figure, it dealt massive damage.
But she wasn’t at all concerned. Her figure flashed through the air, and she shot at Master God Yun Xiao.
Clang!!!
Master God Yun Xiao drew a Dao Sword, and his blade seemed to cleave through the stars as he flew at Su Yi. However, before he’d gotten far, Luo Xuanji caught up and managed to block him.
That tyrannical power of the Dao of the Sword made Luo Xuanji stagger on her feet, blood dripping from the corner of her mouth. Her beautiful face paled.
The entire series of events happened in a flash. Luo Xuanji had been injured twice, and the three Master Gods had thoroughly blocked her path!
But all of it was worth it.
Because the red scroll had already carried Su Yi beyond the barrier formed of three thousand Dao Lotuses.
The three Master Gods’ expressions darkened. None of them had anticipated that Luo Xuanji would go to such lengths. She was completely disregarding her own well-being, and even her life, all to give Su Yi a chance at survival!
Yun Xiao turned, and was just about to chase after Su Yi, when…
Boom!
Yet another streak of blood-red saber qi descended. Luo Xuanji had attacked and intercepted him once more.
“With me here, you have no chance,” she said calmly.
Despite her wounds, there was a delighted, joyous smile on her stunningly beautiful face.
“You’re wrong. That heretic will not escape disaster!”
“Why waste time on talk? Kill that madwoman first!”
The Dipankara Buddha, the Severed Heavens Demon Master, and Master God Yun Xiao attacked in a rage.
Kaboom!
The entire stretch of stars was thrown into upheaval. Divine light swept outward. The terrifying auras of Master Gods were even more terrifying than baleful celestial winds.
This wasn’t a battle between “ordinary” Undying Realm Master Gods, either. This was an unparalleled battle between three peak Nine-Tribulation Master Gods and the former ruler of a forbidden zone!
One-Tribulation Master Gods had only just barely crossed the threshold of the Undying Realm, while Nine-Tribulation Master Gods were top experts within the Undying Realm.
Both were Master Gods, but the disparity in strength was enormous. It was like comparing the glow of a firefly to the radiance of the full moon.
Fortunately, Luo Xuanji was no ordinary Master God, either.
She was an unparalleled demoness who’d fought her way out of a vanishing epoch civilization, surviving amidst turbulent spacetime to reach the present day.
Her cultivation base was so mighty that she was a peak existence even among Nine-Tribulation Master Gods!
Even though three top experts of the same level were surrounding her, they could forget about defeating her any time soon!
As the battle raged on, Luo Xuanji thought to herself, I just hope Fellow Daoist Su makes it to the God Domain smoothly. Then, even if my brother and I die in battle, we’ll die without regret.
She wasn’t even concerned about her own survival, let alone whether she won or lost this battle. Her only concern was Su Yi!
……
A streak of blood-red light whooshed through the starry void, flashing past hundreds of thousands of miles.
That red light was actually the scroll painting that had wrapped around Su Yi and was now carrying him to safety.
Time slipped by.
A full two hours passed before Su Yi raised his hand and pressed down.
Kcch!
The blood-red scroll painting came to a halt. Then, Su Yi raised his hand and slowly rolled it up.
This was one of Luo Xuanji’s mysterious treasures, and it was full of spirituality. It was refined out of Undying Materials, and it was incredibly precious.
“Come on out!”
As he spoke, he returned to his original appearance. He’d been disguised as Xiao Jian this entire time, but now that he’d been discovered, there was no point in maintaining the disguise. He then took out a jug of wine and had a sip.
This stretch of stars was silent and empty. There was no sign of anyone, or anything, save for a few floating fragments of stars and meteorites.
But suddenly, a voice like the edges of swords rubbing together rasped, “You discovered me a long time ago, didn’t you?”
A decrepit figure silently appeared on a meteorite hovering in the distance.
He had long, withered yellow hair, and he was dressed in plain cloth robes. His eyes were sunken and turbid, and his back was hunched. He gripped a black cane carved to look as if a serpent were wrapped around it.
He had no terrifying presence to speak of, but when he appeared, Su Yi felt an unprecedented sense of an impending lethal crisis.
“That’s right.”
Su Yi inclined his head. He’d never seen the old man before; there was no sign of him in Li Fuyou’s memories!
However, the moment he appeared, Su Yi understood. This old man was the true source of the lingering sense of an impending crisis that had plagued him of late.
“In that case, why wait this long to reveal my existence?” the old hunchback asked in apparent confusion.
“My two companions really wouldn’t have had any chance at survival if I hadn’t led you away,” Su Yi sighed.
The Luo siblings were fighting, risking their own lives, for him. Even the Severed Heavens Demon Master had jeered at his apparent cowardice, laughing that he was too afraid to anything but hide behind a woman.
But although none of them knew it, he’d chosen to cooperate with Luo Qingdi and Luo Xuanji to lure an even more mysterious and terrifying enemy away!
The old hunchback couldn’t help but find this amusing. “You’re about to die, yet you’re still worried about other people? You truly overestimate yourself.”
Su Yi said calmly, “Why should other people go to their deaths on my account? Go on then. Tell me: who are you? My sword doesn’t kill the nameless.”
The old hunchback couldn’t help but grinned. “Back then, a few other old-timers and I banded together to kill Yi Daoxuan. You seriously don’t recognize me? Hahahaha! What a joke!”
His laughter was full of blatant ridicule, as if Su Yi were a complete idiot.
Su Yi took a sip of wine, then said airily, “I hope you’ll be able to laugh like that as you die, too.”
