On the other side, The two women watched the thatched roof of the Ding family’s shed catch fire. Though Yu Dong and Wu Junfen had seen many terrifying scenes in their past lives, this one was equally horrifying.

There was a child inside, damn it! Even if Ding Nuan Nuan was not a good person, she didn’t deserve to die like this!

Compared to the thunder shock that was released by the bracelet that Yu Dong had given to Yu Mai, this was simply on another level.

Wu Junfen gritted her teeth as she raised her head and summoned a soul which she had harvested in one of her missions. She let that soul take a peek inside the shed which was on fire — only to find out from the soul that Ding Nuan Nuan had died.

Her body had now turned into a charred corpse! As for the soul, it was nowhere to be found.

“Damn!” The sight was so terrifying that even Wu Junfen, who had seen a lot of corpses in her past life, was scared.

Even Yu Dong was too frightened as she too had released spiritual energy to see what was going on inside the shed. The thing that she saw through the small pot of plant swaying outside the shed was simply too much!

Yu Dong turned to look at Wu Junfen and asked, “What just happened?” This thunderbolt didn’t seem normal.

“It’s dark spiritual arts,” Wu Junfen replied grimly. “The master who handed the doll to Ding Nuan Nuan — set up an array to reap her soul in case she died unnaturally. This was a warning from the heavens but — alas it was a step too late. The girl’s soul is already taken away.”

At that moment someone screamed inside the Ding family’s house.

“Ah! The shed is on fire! Quickly stop it before it spreads all over the house!”

It sounded like Old Master Ding’s voice who must have woken up after hearing the loud boom of the thunder hitting the shed.

Since Old Master Ding was awake and would take care of the fire, Wu Junfen glanced at Yu Dong who nodded and the two of them chased after the spirit that had escaped.

If the Ding family stayed asleep they would have helped them but since Old Master Ding was awake, they didn’t need to worry about anything.

The sounds of screams echoed in the village causing more and more mayhem.

Yu Dong and Wu Junfen rushed to the mass graveyard which was located at the other end of the village, outside the fence which Yu Dong had built.

This mass grave was used by all three villages and the bodies which belonged to no one and had no family were dumped inside this mass graveyard.

“Are you sure that it is going there?” Yu Dong asked.

However, her question was answered the second when she noticed a tall, black and smoky figure step out of the graveyard. Red fumes oozed from the skin of that thing which Yu Dong knew was most probably the grudge of those who died and were dumped in this graveyard.

“It swallowed the weaker souls,” Wu Junfen commented as she came to a stop next to Yu Dong. Her eyes were narrowed as she looked at the ghoul in front of them.

She knew that the spirit that was possessing the doll was not a simple one but she never knew that it was this terrifying!

To think that it actually consumed the minor souls and raised its own cultivation and turned into a ghoul, terrifying!

“G…Give it to me… give it to.. me…” Yu Dong stared at the ghoul that was walking towards them. Though she couldn’t see ghosts and spirits, if they were to cross a certain spiritual threshold, they would become visible to Yu Dong.

And this Ghoul had crossed that particular threshold!

Yu Dong watched the ghoul step closer and stiffen. She had dealt with humans and thugs but ghouls — they were a bit terrifying.

Wu Junfen narrowed her eyes as she stepped forwards, she raised her hand and summoned a bunch of skeletons from the ground which rose to their feet holding weapons made of dark shadowy objects.

It was only when Yu Dong took a closer look at them did she realised that the corpses were holding guns and rifles that were used in the apocalypse world.

She turned and looked at Wu Junfen before asking, “They followed you here?”

“Their souls were reaped by me,” Wu Junfen calmly responded as she watched the ghost soldiers attack the ghoul.

Her eyes looked even darker with the moonlight shimmering down at her.

“They would thus follow me everywhere I go,” Wu Junfen answered Yu Dong. These were the corpses of those who had killed innocent people, thus they were cursed to follow her and suffer in agony until they redeemed themselves.

And unless they did it— they would never be able to cross over to the underworld. Since that was the case then Wu Junfen had no guilt in making use of these spirits that were doomed to walk on the surface of the earth.

“However, this is not important,” she said to Yu Dong. Her eyes flickered as she glanced at her granddaughter as she stated, “This ghoul must have been reaped and raised by a dark arts practitioner which means that it is just a step away from turning into a demon.”

She paused and added, “I cannot kill it unless I know its name.” From a distance, the two of them noticed the ghoul swiping two ghost soldiers together and then throwing them to the mass graveyard. “Dong Dong, you need to find the name of the ghoul when it was alive.”

“How do you expect me to ask a ghoul its name?” Yu Dong was stunned. The request that her grandmother had put forth was simply unreasonable. “I don’t reckon that this thing will tell me the truth just because I marched up to it and asked —Hello, we want to kill you. Can you tell us your name?”
