Wu Junfen: “..”
She closed her eyes and released an annoyed sigh which was filled with frustration. She continuously told herself that she could not kick Yu Dong inside the graveyard.
After all, no matter what, she was her granddaughter whom she had carried in her arms when she was born. She was her flesh and blood. And she could not just kick her down into the graveyard because she annoyed her.
“Of course, you cannot do that, but there is another method,” Wu Jufen said to Yu Dong who stepped away from her.
“Whatever it is, I am not doing it,” Yu Dong refused. She had joined hands with Wu Junfen twice in her life and both times, she had nearly lost her life. She would rather fight the ghoul herself than rely on Wu Junfen.
“How can you be so heartless!? I am trying to help you here,” Wu Junfen was shocked when she heard Yu Dong refuse her. Who was she doing this for? Was it not for Yu Dong? If this ghoul was not chasing after her then Wu Junfen wouldn’t have cared about it.
And yet Yu Dong was telling her that she didn’t want to help her? Wasn’t she being too heartless!?
“I am not being heartless,” Yu Dong replied waspishly as she reminded Wu Junfen, “Remember the last time you asked me to help you? You said nothing bad was going to happen. You promised me.” Her voice turned agitated as she reminisced about the last time the two of them joined their hands together.
The more she thought about it, the more her temper rose. “And what happened? I almost got split into halves! If not for the fact that my senior was following me… I would be dead!”
Back then her grandmother told her that everything was alright and all she needed was to sneak inside the mall as bait to get the mutated zombies out of their hiding spots.
As long as they destroyed those zombies, they could get hold of the supplies.
She told her that she would take care of the mutated Zombies and back her up. Yu Dong trusted her despite the first failure and went inside the mall as bait like Wu Junfen asked her to.
The result? Wu Junfen failed to keep her side of the bargain and Yu Dong was caught by those zombies that mutated. Fortunately, she was with one of her seniors who pulled her before her body was torn in half.
And this was the second time Wu Junfen did it.
Yu Dong glared at her grandmother when she recalled how this woman had left her in trouble. Fortunately, her time wasn’t up back then or else she would have definitely died.
Wu Junfen touched the tip of her nose. She realised that she had indeed been too harsh on Yu Dong back then.
Back then she hated Yu Dong for being weak and not giving up on her parents which was why she pushed her granddaughter harder and harder.
But sometimes, she would push Yu Dong into situations that would endanger her.
Though Wu Junfen felt guilty about what she had done to Yu Dong back then, it was only because she wished to teach Yu Dong the lesson that sometimes even her family would give up on her.
That it was alright for her to abandon her parents if it got too much. Though it took a bit too long for Yu Dong to understand this just as it took Wu Junfen to understand that the reason Yu Dong stayed with those two idiots was because of her brothers.
“Ahem, I am sorry about that…” Wu Junfen said to Yu Dong offering her the apology which should have been handed to her ages ago.
Yu Dong narrowed her eyes causing Wu Junfen to glare right back at her before saying, “There is no need to look at me like that. I know that I was at fault back then but this time I promise that you will be fine. You don’t even need to fight that thing. All you need to do is to go into its conscience and find out its name.”
“How am I …”
Yu Dong didn’t even get a chance to finish what she was saying, a second later her feet left the ground and she found herself standing in the middle of a small room.
Yu Dong: “…” I didn’t agree to do this yet!
Annoyed by the fact that Wu Junfen had sent her inside the conscience of the ghoul, she pursed her lips and rolled her eyes twice.
However, before she could even think about her next step she heard an annoyed voice from outside the room.
“Why should I marry him just because you asked me to!?”
Yu Dong paused as she stepped out of the room and gasped silently at the sight in front of her.
On the floor knelt a rather young Shen Li. His eyes were lowered and he seemed to be crying while in front of him were two women. One was young and gloomy-looking while the other one had a heroic aura.
Yu Dong and her mother, Yu Hai.
Yu Hai looked at her daughter with a hint of impatience before saying, “Who else will you marry if not him? Do you think that the mer you are chasing will even look at you? He doesn’t even pay attention to the richest woman in the town! Compared to her, how can you compare?”
“Dong Dong, instead of dreaming why don’t you understand—”
“Understand!?” Yu Dong shouted with a hysterical sneer on her face. “Understand? Why do I have to understand all the time? When aunt asked you to send her to school, you agreed! When that old mer asked you to sell all the game that you hunted and give him the money, you agreed!”
“Can’t you see that our family is in a dire state? You only care about being filial but you don’t even look at what’s going on in the house! Three days, we have been eating coarse flat breads for three days and they are eating rice! Fine rice!”
