[Eon’s POV: ]
Right after a moment of silence, an ethereal Arcanum creature materialized before our eyes.
Both Zoe and I had prepared for something unexpected. If there was some kind of a creature that would pause threat to us, something that would bring difficulties to any of us, or somethin that woudl possess any kind of harmful intention, we were ready to subdue it.
In fact, there were various artifacts ready to take down this summoned being– Doro was also ready with Mr. Rice just in case something happened to any of us, but, thankfully, we did not require any of their help as the being that materialised before us, did not seem threatening at all.
On the contrary, the creature seemed… adorable.
“Wow…”
Anna had fallen down because of the safely mechanism that was triggered at the moment of summoning so that she doesn’t get exposed to anything that she did not need to come across.
There were various kinds of beings that, even with their good nature, are not something simple human senses could comprehans.
Those who possess any kind of unique attribute, be it divine or holy or demonic, are sometimes so undefineable that they put a psychological strain on a moral’s body, someone like Anna being a prime candidate for something like that.
‘She did not know enough yet, so we did this to prevent anything nearly unpredictable from happening.’
But, since there were no reactions in the safety mechanisms of the summoning array, the reactions were reversed and Anna came back up a level, standing with a surprised look… with a certain creature standing right before her.
{ “Muuuu…?” }
It was a baby elephant, but not like any we had seen before.
Its ears were large and expansive, resembling delicate wings that seemed to flutter gently in the breeze, even though they remained still. The creature’s body was enveloped in a monochromatic color scheme, a soft, silvery gray that shimmered with an otherworldly glow.
What truly captivated the senses, however, were its maroon eyes. They were deep and profound, a blend of the real and the imaginary, as if they held secrets from beyond the veil of reality.
“…hello?”
When faced with this being, Anna was first puzzled.
Since the creature was ethereal, it did not possess any physical presence to it, most of the normal humans beings would not even be able to distinguish this being from its surroundings considering it nothing more than a rock at the sidewalk.
However, people like us could certainly feel the ethereal presence of this being. We could tell it existed with us, within this environment, within our surroundings.
It might not be taking up much space, but it was a being whose current existence itself could not be denied.
{ “Muuu…” }
While the three of us could feel this creature through the resonance of its energy body, Anna could feel the creature with the help of her unique skill.
[{ *They have similar eyes…* }]
Anna’s were red like rubies, while the creature had maroon eyes, the color of nature, the color of emotions, the color of cosmos, the color of love, and a color that is looked negatively in many parts of this world.
‘We did it, Lucy. We did it…’
Anna was not seeing us right now even though we were in a terrible state. All her attention was focused on the creature before her, on the unique being that seemed special yet simple, unique yet familiar, something extraordinary, yet something that one could comprehend with simple knowledge.
Their eyes were looking at one another. Their hearts resonating with one another.
Most of all, the energy wavelength of the creature was nearly a perfect match for Anna, and to make things even better, their energy frequencies were so harmonious with one another that Zoe had a deep sigh of relief upon not getting any unwanted signals from the artifacts.
“Are you going to be my new friend?” Anna asked the creature innocently while extending her hand in an attempt to touch the energy beast. Stay tuned to My Virtual Library Empire
{“Mu…” } But the creature stepped back, a little hesitation present on its adorable face.
“Hmm?” She did not understand why the creature might have been scared like that. She genuinely thought there was something wrong with her so she looked at her hand that she had extended and upon realising there was nothing wrong with it, she simply looked at the being one again.
“Is something… wrong?” she was instantly concerned about the creature instead of being worried about why the creature was being wary of her.
It was this empathetic nature of hers that pulled her apart from the usual arcane energy masters, or tamers or summoners.
[{ Empathy cannot be taught directly, not to those who do not understand Self, at least. }]
[{ “It is innate.” }]
The creature’s arrival was sudden and quiet, as if it had been summoned from a realm beyond the physical. The air around it seemed to ripple with magic, leaving behind a faint scent of mystique and wonder.
Just like Anna, it could also sense what was going on in her mind. And, it had sensed her Empathy.
{ “Muuu~.” } the creature took a step back right when Anna was doubting herself, and realising the creature had accepted her, she once again extended her hand towards the energy beast that now had a bright smile on its face.
“Hello~.” It had big ears that fluttered like feathers of a bird when Anna patted its head. It liked her touch. However, right when the two came into contact…
-OOOOOOOOONG!
A bright flash filled the air.
And when it faded this time, Anna found herself wrapped in glowing red threads of a familiar energy, threads of Arcanum that both she and the elephant creature were familiar with.
{ “Muuuu…” }
The elephant-like creature standing before her, was also caught up in the same light. The strands of their red fate pulsate between them, as if weaving an invisible bond.
Slowly, the red glow shifted, turning into a mix of silver and red.
“I’ll take good care of you, so can you please look after my big brothers and big sisters as well? I love them, you see.” When she said that, a chuckle escaped from all three of us at once.
-…
Anna felt a strange energy surrounding her, sinking into her skin slowly. A soft tingling spread through her body, and a few strands of her hair turned silver.
‘I had expected as much.’
Physical changes were going to be inevitable from now on. By the time we get ready to go back home, I guess Anna would have changed significantly.
I don’t know if mom and the others would even recognize her or not. Perhaps they might not recognize her, she was going to change a lot with her training.
‘This is just the first step for her.’
-Ooooooooooong!
The creature, the little elephant, vanished— but she knew it hadn’t disappeared. It was inside her now, its presence resting deep within.
She had become one with the little creature, it was a part of her being now. And thanks to this unique Arcane beast, she could now feel the vast powers that had been dormant inside her.
[{ “Rein.” }]
[{ “Yes, yes. But at least let her enjoy it for a moment more.” }]
[{ “Rein.” }]
[{ “Haaaa… jeez, man.” }]
Rein lifted her hand, and the air shimmered.
-Swish!
A faint hum filled the space as a magic circle beneath Anna’s feet lit up, its intricate patterns glowing with a soft, golden light.
-Zap!
The moment the spell activated, a wave of drowsiness washed over her. Her body swayed, her eyelids growing heavy.
As she sank into sleep, clarity filled her mind… she already knew they had their plans, but now she finally understood.
Her big brother and sister had wanted this for her, they had guided her to this moment.
“Hah…” A gentle smile touched her lips as warmth spread through her chest.
Within her, two lights now coexisted. One was hers—familiar, steady. The other belonged to the Arcanum beast, the young elephant with maroon hair eyes, deep and still unaware of this unknown world. They pulsed in harmony, neither overpowering the other.
Anna already knew well how her new partner was a creature from a foreign land, a being from a distant land that no one could reach even with the best traveling methods.
The creature did not know much about this world of theirs, but it at least knew the people.
It could tell who was good and who was bad, what they were and how different they were from what they showed themselves as.
“Thank… you.” As she fell asleep, I moved forward and caught her falling body.
She had worked hard. We were beeding, but it was because of her that this whole summoning was a success.
“Good work, little love.” I couldn’t help feeling proud of her. She was smart, she was strong, she was brave, and now she won’t be alone either.
She would have a friend with her to talk with, a friend like our familiars that would live with her, talk with her, and play with her whenever she needed.
It was a smart creature as well so it was going to get used to the rest of them pretty soon.
Hopefully, she will understand why we all had to go so far for this whole process, but now that it is over, we will have enough excuses for her.
‘She’s not going to let us be, I know that much.’
Even though she was growing, she was still my Anna.
She’s going to get upset with me, with all three of us. But we can handle that much.
‘Her anger isn’t going to last anyway.’
She’ll calm down, and soon return to her jolly self in a few days…
