One Piece - I Am A Different Luffy!

Chapter 517 – This Is the Power I Want You to Have to Be a Challenge, Coby.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Territory of the Pirates of the Dawn.

Luffy didn’t care about the distortions in space coming from that place in Wano as he was pressing down on Coby.

The young hero, meanwhile, had his face nearly on the ground, gritting his teeth, staring at Luffy standing there, trying to push him with everything he had, mercilessly.

“This… power… and it doesn’t even feel like he’s using all his strength…” Coby muttered, grinding his teeth, his face sweaty and red, as he used every bit of strength in his muscles not to hit the ground directly, trying to maintain some dignity against that pirate.

Coby was more frustrated than ever at that moment, knowing Luffy wasn’t even using all his power, yet it was enough to keep him in that state, as if he were nothing compared to the man in front of him.

Flashbacks began running through his mind, memories of a small boat he boarded after Luffy had left the commercial and pirate ship, having launched Alvida — in her fat form — into the sky while her crew ran to rescue her.

He had promised that day that he would capture Monkey D. Luffy and have the strength to do it. But there… what was he compared to that monster who wasn’t even trying to keep him on the ground? Could he really do it?

Luffy’s Haki had already been sensed by many.

It was a powerful manifestation, making many in Dressrosa wonder what Luffy was doing by releasing it like that. But those who already knew Luffy’s true power understood: that was just a fraction of his strength. He wasn’t using the red lightning of his Haki — an even more advanced version of his Conqueror’s Haki.

Coby was already used to dealing with people of great power, but there he could see that even Luffy surpassed all of them. He couldn’t feel the full extent of Luffy’s Haki, but it was clear to Coby that not even Monkey D. Garp’s Haki came close to the level Luffy had the potential to reach — a level Coby had never seen before.

‘Why did you hit me…?’

Coby, in his younger version, murmured, looking toward the front of the canoe in fear, as the Luffy from two years ago had just punched his forehead.

“Because you’re such a coward, it pisses me off,” Luffy had said.

‘But I can’t do anything, I’m just… me…’ Coby replied, trying to soothe the pain from the punch he had received.

‘You don’t even believe in your own dream. How can you achieve it?’ Luffy answered with an arrogant tone. ‘It doesn’t matter when people laugh at you for speaking your true goals, no matter how absurd they are. You need to stand firm, trusting that you’ll accomplish what you want, even if you’re the only one who believes in it. That’s the first step to making what you desire a reality.’

Luffy’s words echoed in the memories of young Coby.

Coby was speechless upon hearing that, frozen… Until… then, he stood up with a determination he had never had before, especially when he was still under Alvida’s command.

Coby stood up at that moment. He looked up at the sky with a fiery gaze and shouted his true goals.

‘I’ll be a Marine! And I’ll be so strong that I’ll become an admiral in the future!’

His cry echoed across the sea while only Luffy witnessed the burning heart of a Marine being born on that small boat.

‘All right,’ Luffy smiled at him, and Coby looked back firmly.

‘And I’ll capture you one day, pirate!’ he exclaimed, pointing at Luffy, before receiving another flick on the head.

‘Ow! Why did you hit me?!’ Coby complained, teary-eyed.

‘Don’t say that to a pirate you’re sharing a boat with, when you’re weaker than him,’ Luffy said, as he placed his hat back on his head to sleep.

Coby stayed there, speechless, as the rest of the journey continued, searching for Shelltown. When he noticed, the boat had sped up under Luffy’s power, eager to reach the town quickly.

Now… on the ground, he looked again at the man who had said those words two years ago. He had taught the young Coby important things, even after hitting him twice before simply sleeping through the rest of the journey back then, leaving Coby to row to Shelltown alone.

Coby had to admit: from the very beginning, Luffy had always claimed he would be the king of the seas, even when the first reaction around him was laughter — as Coby had witnessed when Alvida’s crew laughed at Luffy’s goals the moment he introduced himself to everyone, after falling from the sky onto the ship on that random day.

“I can’t give up now…” Coby murmured, as he began clenching his teeth even harder, chips breaking off, trying to face Luffy from the ground, placing only his hands on the floor, attempting to push himself up with all his strength.

“Very well,” Luffy, releasing his Haki, smiled. “But that’s not enough,” he declared.

“But I’m not finished yet!” Coby exclaimed, as his hands began to be coated with Haki to push even harder against the ground. He began to rise. “I will not be subdued!” he declared, as a wave of energy exploded from his body, releasing his Conqueror’s Haki unconsciously, to shield himself from the energy Luffy was unleashing.

Quickly, the two Hakis collided with each other, relieving part of the pressure on Coby.

“Interesting…” Luffy commented, smiling as he saw Coby displaying a bit of his hidden strength.

“I’m not the weakest,” Coby murmured, standing up, facing Luffy with determined eyes, while the pirate held a serious gaze.

But in the next moment, Coby felt something much worse coming, as even the atmosphere in the area began to change.

Luffy’s Haki turned red, exploding in all directions, as Coby was dragged backward without any resistance, even his Haki weakening in an attempt to protect himself from the attack. Luffy subdued him instantly in that moment.

“What is this…?” Coby couldn’t help but murmur, stunned by the power Luffy was now releasing, as red lightning spread around, making the entire place tremble. “So this is your true power?!” He hadn’t been wrong to believe Luffy surpassed everyone Coby had ever faced.

“What is that?!” All the former marines in the village immediately looked toward that corner, as the island began to shake, and red lightning shot out from one side.

All of Luffy’s wives, all the Seraphim, looked in that direction, while the children seemed a bit cautious.

“It’s daddy, isn’t it?” Luna murmured in Hancock’s arms.

“Yes. Luffy is releasing his Haki for some reason,” she said, as everything around them shook.

“Luffy…” Even Lucy, who had been having fun, looked confused by Luffy releasing that kind of power there.

In King Riku’s castle, Viola stared in shock, using her vision power to see what was happening, witnessing Luffy pressing down on a marine as if he were his greatest enemy, with such power that even the castle and city trembled just from his Haki.

“It’s the Captain! Is he facing an enemy?!” At that moment, Rebecca also ran, still wearing her princess dress.

“No. He’s testing someone, from what I can see,” Viola concluded.

Quickly, the red Conqueror’s Haki began making everyone feel the vibration spreading across all the islands as it passed through the entire territory, causing each island to tremble slightly in various places.

“That damn old man…” Ace murmured, a bit bruised.

“Come here, Ace, I still need to teach you a lesson!” Garp exclaimed, as they were on Sphinx. The Whitebeard Pirates looked frustrated as the Marine hero remained standing, beating on Ace.

But it was at that moment that everyone looked to the side as the entire area began to shake.

“It’s Luffy… that Haki…” Garp muttered, immediately looking toward the direction of the pressure.

All the Straw Hat members were also stunned and surprised as they saw their captain’s strength manifesting in every direction. Some, far away, didn’t know what was happening and asked if he was fighting an enemy. The entire territory felt his Haki exploding.

Even Sabo and the other revolutionaries were taken aback, while Dragon narrowed his eyes, impressed by his son’s strength, whatever it was he was doing at that moment.

And the one who felt it the most was none other than Coby, especially with the full force of the Haki pressing him down as its sole target, making him kneel. Even his own Conqueror’s Haki, trying to resist the monstrous power coming from Luffy, seemed useless. This was a completely different level of power.

Luffy continued for a while, until he finally stopped, replacing his serious expression with a bold smile.

Coby remained there, frozen on the ground, as Luffy’s Haki finally ceased. He was finally able to breathe again after a while, looking at Luffy with a glimmer of fear, unable to utter a single word.

“This is my power, Coby. I wanted you to know… after all, I want you to try to reach this level,” Luffy declared, leaving Coby even more stunned.

Coby tried to argue, but Luffy stopped him.

“No more. Reach this level and you’ll be stronger than any other admiral. After all, there are powerful pirates at sea with this kind of strength, and I’m not the only one with this Haki. If you don’t reach this level, you’ll prove that the Marines aren’t strong enough to fight the enemies at sea and injustice… since your admirals don’t have enough power to deal with them,” Luffy said, leaving Coby speechless.

“Anyway, I didn’t do this to intimidate you, Coby. But to show the level you must reach, Coby. Until then, you won’t be enough to fight me.”

With that, Luffy simply turned his back and shot into the sky, leaving Coby alone, lost in thought, with the entire area destroyed, as some people came to see what had really happened.

Back in the ruined castle of Wano, four people emerged through a distortion in space, finally arriving there after twenty years.

Four people appeared: Kurozumi Kanjuro, Kin’emon, Raizo, and the son and heir of Oden, Kozuki Momonosuke.

“We’ve finally returned! Are there enemies to fight?” Kin’emon immediately asked, drawing his sword as he searched for anyone to face.

“There are no enemies, from what I can see…” Raizo murmured, as someone raised a hand and pointed upward.

“Hey, what’s going on here? Are we really in Wano?”

The childish voice made the other two and the fourth look up in shock, as they saw an island floating in the sky near Wano.

More and more islands began to be noticed, as everyone turned their heads, seeing a completely unusual scene — different from what they remembered, even though they had been in the middle of a war against Kaido and Orochi.

“What’s going on? Wait… but this is the castle… Look at the graves!” Kanjuro said, pointing to the place where the graves of Oden and Toki were — as well as their own, since they had been declared dead.

Momonosuke suddenly began to tremble.

“Father… mother…” He began to cry, immediately hit by the shock of reality, remembering his mother in the midst of the flames and Hiyori fainted in his arms, saying her final words, encouraging him to free Wano in the future as she sent them twenty years ahead from that day.

“Please, prince… I know you lost your mother recently, but now we have to see what’s going on first,” Kin’emon tried to remain sane, seeking answers for what was happening.

Wano had changed. That was evident, and they needed to find out why. After all, Kaido should still be in control, along with Orochi, after what they did to Oden.

However, the answer to their questions came in a different form, when the entire territory of Wano suddenly began to shake. Even distant islands could see stone fragments falling around the region.

“Hey, what’s happening?” they murmured, a bit lost, as the shaking continued for a while, until it finally stopped.

“Could it be over…? What was that?” Kanjuro murmured with some apprehension, as he looked for any sign of an enemy.

Then they felt it. Everyone felt it.

Something was coming toward them at that moment, suddenly cutting through clouds in the sky and reaching them in an instant — so fast it was hard to believe someone could move like that.

“The enemy…? Who could it be?” Kanjuro muttered, as something crashed with full force in front of them, breaking the ground.

“Well, look what we have here…” Luffy commented, stepping out of the destruction and staring at them while they all looked at him for the first time, without knowing who he was.
