To the surprise of many, the Sky King, a powerful monster with a name that Aquarina and her friends believed to be a formidable Beast King of some sort, ended being…

A person this entire time!

Aquarina had analyzed him with her System and was able to tell he had name, and this was the first time she encountered a monster with a name.

But instead of questioning it further, she thought it simply meant that the monster was so strong it had been named in ancient times or something, and that name stuck around as a part of his identity.

But nope, she was completely wrong, and it ended up being an actual person!

“T-There’s no freaking way…” Aquarina muttered. “This bird as a guy?!”

As she gasped in disbelief, the bird slowly transformed into a man, a rather large man, perhaps as tall as Justicio, if not slightly taller.

He had a big, burly body, and a youthful and handsome face, almost too handsome and young-looking to belong to such a rough and manly-looking body, which most would think belonged to an old man.

He looked mostly like a human man, with dark brown skin covered on many scars, he had two arms, two legs, a head and… that’s where the similarities ended.

Aside from the conventional limbs a humanoid being possessed, he also had a huge pair of wings, around half the size of his monster form, and that looked almost identical, with brown, white, and black feathers.

Aside from those big wings, the man had feathers over his body instead of body hair, there were brown, white, and black feathers covering most of his arm up to his elbow, and also his legs up to his knees.

Instead of human hands or feet, he had bird-like talons with golden scales and sharp, black claws. His hands had five of them, including thumb, but his legs were identical to his monster form talons, four fingers, three at the front and one behind for easy support in any standing surface.

His “hair” was a bunch of feathers growing from his head, making it look as if he were wearing a big, feathered ornamental hat of some sort, and he looked majestic.

And well, he was stark-naked too, and it just happened that his private parts weren’t covered by feathers.

“I-It’s guy?! And he’s na-naked?!” Silvia gasped, blushing as she glared at the man.

“H-Hey, don’t look at him like that!” Justicio got jealous, quickly throwing his jacket over the man’s private parts, and covering them.

“Ugh…” the man groaned in pain, as he looked around himself, and then at his own hands. His eyes were slowly opening.

“He’s waking up! Stay alert!” Aquarina quickly called her friends, as they immediately glared at the man with wariness in their eyes.

Despite being a person, that didn’t mean the man hadn’t tried to kill them in that battle, right?

So whatever he was, it didn’t change the fact they were enemies.

“C-Calm down, don’t point weapons at him…!”

Agua, in her compassionate heart, ran towards the man, putting herself in front of him.

“He’s… I think he’s a member of the Wind People! Maybe… the last member.”

As she spoke, the man slowly opened his eyes, finally realizing what was happening.

“I…”

He seemed to speak the common tongue too.

“What? Where… Where am I? I… Is this a dream?”

As he began wondering what was happening, Agua and her friends glared at him with surprise.

“Um, don’t you remember what you did just now?”

“I… I was fighting, I… the endless nightmare that never stops… It stopped? Am I in a dream now? Or perhaps I’m dead?”

The man grabbed his head with his hands, realizing they were hands…

And not just giant wings.

“Huh? My hands… my arms? W-What’s going on?! I am…!”

As he started muttering to himself, with a surprisingly soft yet manly voice, he glared back at Agua. M|V|LEM*PYRisthehomeofthischapter

“A-Are you alright? Calm down… I know it must have hurt… But I think you’re indeed back, sir…”

“A-Ah…”

The man suddenly grabbed his head, as he started crying.

Tears never stopped coming from his beautiful emerald eyes, as Aquarina and her friends slowly lowered their weapons.

“He’s… crying?” Aquarina wondered.

“…” Justicio remained in silence, as he glanced at the man.

“Huh? Um, excuse me? Are you okay?” Silvia wondered. “You were a big bird just now; do you not remember what you did?”

“Y-You were attacking us…” Aquarina said.

“Ah, sorry about cutting your beak…” Justicio said.

“…” The man slowly looked at them. “I… I’m sorry… Was I… fighting you? I don’t… I remember but… it’s blurry. My head keeps spinning. It has been… so many years since I was in this form.”

“Wait, you’ve been a bird for years?!” Aquarina asked.

“…”

The man looked at his own hands and sighed.

“I think so… I couldn’t keep track of time anymore, after… after so many years… I only remember destruction, rage… agony… My hands are… my hands are… painted with the blood of my brethren. I became their nightmare. I destroyed… I destroyed everything I swore to protect.”

“…”

“…”

“…”

Aquarina, Silvia, and Justicio looked at one another in confusion and rather awkwardly.

However, if what he said was really the truth, then this man had been somehow forced into becoming a giant monstrous bird for years.

And… he killed his own people while in that form.

“So the murals we saw… Were they depicting you and the people fighting?” Aquarina asked. “Holy shit…”

“How old are you, dude?” Justicio asked. “A-And calm down, maybe you didn’t really do it? You said your memories are blurry!”

“I-I…” The man’s hands trembled. “D-Do you really think so? I… The curse… I don’t know how it was lifted. Was it because I fought you? But how? I have fought so many before, how did this… why now? Why not earlier when it mattered? At this point… It would have been better for me if I died as a monster.”
