The dragon's harem

Chapter 1400 - 1400: To Hunt a God

“War is when people fight each other to gain freedom, land, religious superiority, or dominance.” Gojo looked at Arad with a smile, “Some say that peace is the opposite of war, but I say it’s not, peace is just the absence of war.”

Arad tilted his head, “So? What are you saying?”

“I’m saying that fate is cruel. It set two void dragons on a lone abomination.” He smiled, “We’re not fighting a god, we’re not waging war on a fallen deity, we’re sitting on a hunt for food. We’re just two void dragons seeking our sustenance.”

Gojo scratched the words war and fighting from the board, “We’re not going to war, we’re hunting, we’re not fighting, we’re merely hunting. Two scratched at once.” He looked at Arad with a smile, “That leaves violence.”

Gojo smiled, “Well, of course, I never fisted a deer to death. But I guess you did it to a bear. We’re going to avoid most of that violence by setting a trap. We’re civilised hunters after all, and our game has rights to -what humans call it? A humane death.”

Arad quickly realised that it would be just him, Gojo, and Alexander inside the barrier. Alexander’s only source of divine magic is them, so if they aren’t going to wage war, fight, or be violent, he won’t be getting any power.

“How do gods even get their power?” Arad asked, and Gojo shrugged, “Hell if I know. This knowledge is the result of what I observed from Lucy. She is a full goddess now after all.” He looked down through the building toward where Lucy was, “For a little girl, she knows how to describe what she is doing well.”

“For example.” Gojo started thinking, “She is the goddess of gluttony. Anything that includes that would give her power, and she isn’t limited by people who know her.”

“She is the goddess of gluttony, not the goddess of people who believe in gluttony. Any form of desire for excessive consumption fuels her portfolio. It’s quite expensive and sometimes hard to track, but it’s always there.” He smiled, “But we’re lucky this seal locks Alexander in. From what it looks like, that seal keeps him from getting any divine energy from the outside world. It’s a controlled environment where we can test the limits of a god’s portfolio.”

“You mean?”

“It’s best we keep that seal under control and use it later to train demi-gods like Eris or Mira on how to control their divine portfolio. Also test things, like what is considered murder and what isn’t for Eris.” He waved his hand, “Put her inside, bring someone, kill him in a specific way, and see if she gets divine energy. If she does, that kill was murder; if she doesn’t, the kill wasn’t murder.”

“That sounds useful, but we’ll need to get rid of Alexander first. And he isn’t dying without a fight.” Arad sat down. “Even if we aren’t waging war against him, he’ll be coming for us, and that should give him divine magic.”

“That’s to be expected. We’ll have to overcome that, and what’s a better way to hunt an animal than to use a trap? Nothing, Liliana should be able to give us a solid trap idea. Let’s go and see her.”

The two teleported inside to ask Liliana for advice, and she sighed with an exhausted face when she heard the two of them were trying to kill a god of war.

“First, you two need to tire him out. Kite him around, keep him chasing you, and make him use big attacks. Once he is low on divine energy, low enough at least, get him to end himself with a trap. The key point is that he needs to be the one to activate the trap, not you two.” She scratched the back of her head, “This is all I can think about on the spot, for the trap, it doesn’t matter as long as it can one-shot him.”

Gojo nodded and looked toward Lucy, “Lucy, I need your nails, all of them, and a bit of hair if you will.” He paused, “Blood might help if you don’t mind.”

She looked at him, “At this rate, how about I chop my head off? But, fine, I’ll get them for you. Are you casting high magic?”

“Nothing makes a trap better than the remnants of a god.”

Usually, people would fight over a single drop of divine blood due to how much power it holds. Two nations once killed each other over a three-hundred-year war over the ownership of a single strand of divine hair that belonged to Amaterasu.

“Arad!” Kali waved her hand and jumped at him, “If Gojo is making a trap using Lucy’s power, how about you make one using my powers? I’m sure Alexander would shit himself seeing a destruction blast raining down on his skull like an anvil.”

“I’m not as skilled with magic as my brother.” Arad shook his head, and she grabbed him by the hand. “Stop whining, come with me. I’ll show you a few tricks.”

Kali took Arad to another room and turned into her destruction form. “I’ll help you make a trap that no one has ever managed to get. It’ll make even Amaterasu cry and curse, hehehe.”

Kali lifted her hand and shoved it in her chest, pulling her still-beating heart out. Arad was about to scream, but her wound instantly healed as if it were nothing.

“You’ve eaten the overgod’s dead heart and saw how much power that thing held. This heart is my still living heart. I’ve got a new one now, but it still holds too much power.” She covered the heart in a wave of demonic magic and sealed it into a black cube.

“Once you use this on someone, they’ll be doomed to destruction and ruin. It doesn’t work that well on gods, but it should be enough to make it impossible for Alexander to heal or exert more than half of his power without injuring himself.”

She looked at the cube, “I bet whatever trap Gojo would make will end up breaking Alexander apart and digesting him. This would make it impossible for Alexander to recover from that.”

“Are you sure it won’t be considered an attack?”

“It won’t, I bet it’ll be a blessing from me to Alexander. One that’ll help him get destroyed faster.”
