THE INVINCIBLE FULL-MOON SYSTEM
Chapter 1472 - 1472: Aurelian Fortress (1)Rex wasn’t proud of his pain tolerance.
It was something that he was trained to be good at and then become something necessary.
And now, that skill has become an asset.
Based on the description, referring to the backfire as ‘phantom pain’, he assumed that the pain would be nothing more than an induced illusion. It was not real but felt like it. In that case, the limitation was not as bad to him.
Just an inconvenience.
Of course, that doesn’t mean he could disregard it entirely.
During a vicious battle, that momentary pain might cause an involuntary twitch or pause.
A moment that might cause the end of him so he needed to be careful.
Moreover, Rex now realized the reason why he was sleepy and tired earlier.
He used the Inevitable Death two times during the day, which means he sacrificed a lot of his blood.
Initially, he thought he was exhausted as his body wasn’t accustomed to a drawn-out battle but turns out it was because of anemia. He lost so much blood from using his Spirit Genesis that even his powerful regeneration couldn’t replenish his blood fast enough.
Linthia was the one who was exhausted while he got anemia as well as life energy exhaustion instead.
Not to mention, there was also the exhaustion from using the Blood Moon Order skill.
What about the neutralizer section, what does that mean?
<Neutralizer section offered the user a way to guarantee the limitation would not take effect. By using the user’s blood and topped with the blood of others, the user could bypass the limitation. It’s worth noting that the user couldn’t abuse the Neutralizer. It’s maxed at once a day—and would gradually grow even harder to complete the stronger the Spirit Genesis becomes>
Reading the notification, Rex wasn’t surprised.
He expected something like this.
Even without a Spirit Genesis and only backed with the Blood Moon Order skill, he could already go hand-to-hand against Immortal Spirits. So once he managed to form the Inevitable Death Spirit Genesis, things have been going too smoothly for him.
It was odd and unnerving.
And now, he felt lighter with the introduction of Limitations and Neutralizer.
On top of checking his stats and his Spirit Genesis, Rex also checked his accumulated Nightfall Stars.
…
<Accumulated Nightfall Stars>
White Nightfall Stars: 53,141
Yellow Nightfall Stars: 25
Red Nightfall Stars: 0
Gold Nightfall Stars: 0
Dark Nightfall Stars: 0
…
Rex couldn’t hide his smile at the sight, this has been quite a haul.
Killing Franklin, Istvan, Garvain, and Selvaris gave him Yellow Nightfall Stars and coupled with the Critical Ticket item that was still active, he accumulated 22 Yellow Nightfall Stars. In addition to the Voidal Knights he killed along the way, he obtained three more.
Compared to back when he was in Arbitgea, this was a lot more than three days’ worth of haul.
But there’s something he needed to pay attention to.
I’ll have to be mindful of using the White Nightfall Stars, saving some to keep my body going.
Due to his Imbalanced-type Spiritual Vein, he needed to keep some to stay in his current rank.
At this moment, to stay in the Immortal Spirit 1 rank, he roughly burns 100 White Nightfall Stars a day.
It would only increase as he got stronger and stronger.
A price that he needed to pay for being able to become strong faster.
Every time he was about to drop a rank from having too much of his life energy leak out, there was this weird, nagging feeling that he must prevent it from happening no matter what. Rex could feel that something bad is going to happen if he regresses in rank.
Deciding to trust his guts, he always kept his life energy at an optimal level every time dawn came.
It was negligible back when he was still at the Ascendant Spirit rank.
But now, once he entered the Immortal Spirit rank, the flaw of having this type of Spiritual Vein was becoming more evident. Due to this, he also couldn’t absorb the Yellow Nightfall Stars—sparingly. He always needed to make sure he had enough Yellow Nightfall Stars to break through to the next rank.
Not absorbing enough would only lead to all of it leaking out in the end.
Rex wasn’t worried about this though, Voidal Monsters are plenty enough and are endless.
Gathering Nightfall Stars shouldn’t be a problem, especially with the others around.
Kraken could help avoid unnecessary fights, Linthia could provide protection from the Black Rift with her Seeker Flare, and Amanir provided the means to travel fast. As for Rex, well, he provided the brawn, destroying any Voidal Monsters that weren’t stronger than Voidal Knights.
Swoosh!
Soon, Rex stepped onto the edge of a cliff and gazed ahead.
He was now wearing a brown, run-down robe that also provided a boost to mind clarity that he bought from the System, helping him endure the Black Rift’s influence better. Naturally, he also gave the same robe to the others except for Kraken.
For Kraken, he bought another item called the Bronze Binding Syal.
Linthia surprisingly has experience with babies due to her traditions.
All Fairies are family-oriented and always gladly help handling a newborn.
She was able to swaddle Kraken tightly with the Bronze Binding Syal, preventing Kraken from moving or even letting out a voice that would attract unnecessary attention. It also has a suppressing effect, preventing Kraken’s void energy from leaking out.
Considering how Spirits lived in bubbles due to Voidal Monsters, their hatred was understandable.
Just like Supernaturals who hated Humans for enslaving them, Spirits would undoubtedly hate the Voidal Monsters for usurping their land and forcing them to live in a confined space. Bringing a Voidal Monster inside would only be a ticket for trouble.
And thus, there’s no way Rex would let Kraken run around freely.
Coupled with several sleeping vials he fed to Kraken, there shouldn’t be any problem.
Of course, drugging a baby Voidal Monster doesn’t feel right but what else he could do?
Besides, Kraken shouldn’t be born right now anyway.
“Remember our disguise,” Rex warned as he gazed at the magnificent and glowing bubble ahead, the Aurelian Fortress. Unlike the Arcalen House’s bubble, the bubble surrounding the Aurelian Fortress was several times thicker and brighter. “We are a family that was stranded, searching for a new home. You’re my sister now, Linthia, make sure to act and address me appropriately”
“Yes,” Linthia nodded. “You can trust me, brother”
“Good,” Rex cast a light smile at her before gazing back ahead. “Let’s go”
Moments later.
Just as expected of a high-profile place, guards were stationed along the entire border of the bubble.
All of them are at least at the Ascendant Spirit rank with several Immortal Spirits here and there.
Clearly, from their lineup alone, the one overseeing the guards must be at least an Eternal Spirit.
Not everyone was able to enter the Aurelian Fortress feely.
Rex anticipated this and was fretting about how to get around these guards.
Fortunately, Amanir volunteered to take care of it—he’d be the one doing the talking.
“Please, Good Sir,” Amanir pleaded, rubbing his massive ears together as if he were rubbing his hands. “We are renowned Walkers back in our homeland but it was destroyed now because of a Voidal Prince and we need a place to rest for a couple of days. I bet if you give us a chance to prove ourselves, we can uphold anything you want”
Hearing this, the one-eyed guard, clad in blue steel armor glanced at Rex, Linthia, and then Kraken.
He found it laughable that Amanir boasted of being a renowned Walker.
“Don’t even try,” He said, gesturing for them to go away. “We encountered people like you all the time. Go back to wherever you came from and even what you said is really the truth, go about ten miles that way and take refuge in the Golden Forest”
“Is there nothing that’d change your mind?” Amanir asked. “We really need to rest inside”
“Go away while I’m still nice,” the guard shook his head.
It was clear that the group problem was the Black Rift’s influence but the guard couldn’t agree.
He couldn’t be bothered by this.
Just then, another guard from the side commented, “Kill a Razor Bat if you want, we’ll get you through”
Naturally, the one-eyed guard cast a sharp glance at him.
“What?” the guard lifted his shoulders. “I’m really craving some bat beat”
Not even waiting for the one-eyed guard to say anything, Amanir clapped his ears in delight, “Alright then, that’s a deal. Don’t worry, we’re only going to stay in the fortress for a couple of days to rest our minds,”
Upon saying that, Amanir and the others turned and disappeared into the Black Rift again.
“Do you think this is okay?” the one-eyed guard asked.
A chuckle escaped from the other guard, “Relax, the Razor Bat is a strong Voidal Knight at the Immortal Spirit 3 rank. Not to mention, it’s a flying creature, hard to kill. I was only saying that to make it easier to get rid of them. Even if they do come back, we can take it without letting them in”
“You endangered their lives by giving false hope…” the one-eyed guard shook his head and sighed.
He hoped that group wouldn’t really hunt the Razor Bat.
Moments later.
As the guards kept watch beyond the bubble, the one-eyed guard narrowed his gaze when he noticed a couple of figures emerging from the darkness. His grip tightened around his spear, instincts warning him that they might be Voidal Monsters—but as they stepped closer, he realized they weren’t.
But then, his alertness was replaced by clear shock.
Leading the group was the Demon Spirit he talked with earlier, Amanir.
Behind Amanir, the robust and muscular man was dragging a carcass behind him—a Razor Bat!
“How in the world…?” the guard, who requested the Razor Bat was stunned. “I didn’t expect for them to really hunt a Razor Bat. A Voidal Monster is naturally stronger than us, one Immortal Spirit rank Voidal Knight can take on multiple of us at the same rank. So this… they must be quite capable”
Similarly, the one-eyed guard also thought of the same thing.
None from Amanir’s group emitted a strong aura so it was clear that they were all experts.
Only those who have immense experience in controlling life energy could hide their auras so delicately.
Rex pulled on the Razor Bat carcass and threw it over the barrier, handing it over to the guards.
Once he did that, Amanir smiled again, “Can we enter now…?”
“You’re handing it to us as easily as that?” the one-eyed guard questioned in disbelief.
As opposed to handing it over, the group should’ve asked them to be let inside first but Amanir didn’t do that so he was shocked. Handing the carcass over meant that the group now had no bargaining chip against the.
“Of course, I can tell you guards are honorable people,” Amanir replied confidently.
“Ekhm…” the guard on the side cleared his throat. “I did ask for the Razor Bat but still can’t let you in. After all, I was only saying that to get rid of you guys so I didn’t think about my request much. Do you understand?”
“Is there anything else you want?” Amanir asked innocently.
“Now that I know your group is capable, maybe a Thunder Boar will suffice,” the guard answered.
Upon hearing this, Amanir put on the greatest smile he could muster, nodded, and turned around again to hunt this Thunder Boar. Seeing the group walking away like this strikes a pang—in the one-eyed guard’s heart, “Are you really going to keep taking advantage of them?”
“I’m not!” the guard refuted. “A Razor Bat is a flying monster so that group must be adept in taking out flying monsters. In contrast, the Thunder Boar is extremely violent and physically strong. I bet this time, that group wouldn’t be able to take it out and give up”
“Thunder Boar’s meat is also a delicacy in high-end hotels,”
“Well… there’s also that”
“I can’t believe you and your gluttonous stomach”
